A crowd of tourists on a beach in Chalkida, Greece tormented and attacked a disoriented swordfish who had accidentally comes too close to shore, stoning the innocent creature to death.
A video on Facebook shows onlookers laughing heartlessly while the attackers strike the swordfish with rocks and other objects, trying to grab the fish as the animal swam around in a confused state, desperately trying to escape to safety.
The frightened swordfish finally managed to get away, but a small group of men then further hounded her, intent on continuing the attack. Officials later discovered the animal dead in the harbour.
Not only did onlookers stand by and allow this terrible attack to happen, but harbour officials reportedly failed to take measures to prevent the escalation of the brutality.
This shocking incident must be investigated thoroughly and the attackers punished. Greek authorities need to make it clear that the abuse of animals is completely unacceptable.
Sign this petition to urge the Greek Minister of Justice, Kostas Tsiaras, to ensure that this case is fully investigated and that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

PETITION TARGET: Plainfield Police Department Director Lisa Burgess
A defenseless raccoon trapped in a cage in Plainsfield, New Jersey was soaked in accelerant and burned alive, dying in terror and agony on the 4th of July.
Police discovered the body of the juvenile raccoon in the early morning after responding to calls reporting the incident. They found the burned corpse in a small cage on the curbside.
Two other raccoons were discovered in cages outside the home, but they were unharmed. An investigation revealed that a pest control company set up the cages.
Plainfield Police are still investigating this horrific act of cruelty and ask anyone with information to contact Police Lt. Edward Hafekin at 908-753-3131 or Prosecutor’s Office Sgt. Vito Colacitti at 908-527-4670.
Anyone capable of torturing and murdering an innocent animal in this way is a danger to animals and humans, and needs to be caught.
Sign this petition urging Plainfield Police Director Lisa Burgess to ensure police conduct a thorough investigation and prosecute whoever did this to the fullest extent of the law.

Crammed into tiny, filthy cages stacked atop one another, 29 dogs burned to death in a kennel fire in Carol Stream, Illinois. With nobody there to watch the dogs and zero fire safety measures in place, the dogs had no hope of escape as the building quickly became engulfed in flames.
A six-month investigation by local authorities revealed abhorrent practices at the kennel long before the fire. Officials discovered dogs with puncture wounds, lacerations, abrasions, weight loss, and dehydration.
Investigators say the house reeked and water bowls lay empty. One of the dogs that perished in the fire was tied to a bathtub so tightly that the canine wouldn’t have even been able to lie down to rest.
While firefighters and police managed to rescue 22 of the 58 dogs housed on the property, they were unable to reach those trapped on the second floor of the building.
Police have charged owner Garrett Mercado with 14 counts of animal cruelty and 14 counts of violating his duties as an animal owner. Now, we must urge prosecutors to treat this case with the severity it deserves, and call for a lifelong ban on the defendant from ever having another animal in his care.
Sign this petition urging DuPage State’s Attorney Robert Berlin to ensure that justice is served in this tragic case, and protect future animals from neglect.
Sign Petition: This Guy Ripped the Feathers Out of a Live, Wounded Emu
Animal abuse isn’t funny, but some people think it’s a hoot.
Take the story of a group of people in Australia who filmed themselves howling with laughter as one of their friends brutally tortured an emu. Emu birds are enormous and imposing, but it seems its stature wasn’t enough to dissuade a group of hooligans from setting upon it.
In a video that was posted to social media, a man grabs the emu and drags it along the ground and underneath a wire fence. At the same time, he begins to mock ride the bird, which reportedly had a broken leg. It only gets worse from there.
The man grabs large chunks of the flightless bird’s feathers and plucks them out of its body as it writhes in pain. Imagine someone grabbing your fingernails and ripping them out just for fun. That must be how it felt to the poor bird.
According to reports, the police have been made aware of the incident but has refused to take action because they can’t discern where it took place. Yet, the same report, also says that the video was recorded by a 19-year old in Walgett, New South Wales and a young woman interviewed for the story says she knows the person who uploaded the video. That’s how she came to see it in the first place and report it!
So, with all those clues, why exactly aren’t the police taking any action?
Sign the petition and demand that New South West Police do their job, follow the clues and find the thugs who did this.

After a young brown bear wandered into a village in India’s Jammu and Kashmir state, locals terrorized, chased and pelted the animal with stones before the terrified bear fell 50 feet into a river to die, according to reports.
Smartphone footage from earlier in the day shows the panicked bear trying to flee from a mob of locals. The bear becomes painfully tangled in barbed wire, before pulling free and escaping.
Another video shared on Twitter shows the bear desperately clinging to the side of a steep mountain while people throw rocks at the petrified animal. One rock hits the bear on the head, causing the bear to lose balance and fall, tumbling and crashing down the cliff before disappearing into a river as the crowd cheers.
Wildlife conflict is an ongoing problem in India, as human populations grow and destroy precious habitat. This heartbreaking incident highlights the need to increase protections for the critically endangered brown bears in the country, along with other species at risk.
Sign this petition urging India’s Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change to not only find and prosecute all involved, but to increase education for villagers on how to deal with wild animal conflicts, so no more creatures suffer a similar fate to this bear.

Ellie Knoller and wife Jessica Kuncman were arraigned Wednesday in court. A Goldendoodle named Bella (left) was allegedly abused in their care. Victor Alcorn
A Long Island man and his wife brought three lovable puppies into their Mineola home, where the husband viciously beat the pooches while his spouse did nothing — leaving two dead and another fighting for her life, according to prosecutors.
Jessica Kuncman, 30, and Ellie Knoller, 29, were hit with charges stemming from the torture of their three dogs, one after the other, each beaten within days of being brought back to their Mineola home.
The couple — who has been married less than a year — pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Nassau County Court to the heinous crimes, which prosecutors describe as “serial” animal abuse.
“In my 28 years as a prosecutor, I have never seen a case where someone committed this kind of serial violence against different puppies,” said Nassau District Attorney Madeline Singas.
Prosecutors said the pair adopted the first pup, a male shepherd mix named Tucker, on Feb. 8 from North Shore Animal League — but nine days later the new pet was dead from a kidney rupture as a result of Knoller’s “blunt force trauma to the dog.” Tucker suffered from extensive internal bleeding and died.
The very next day, the couple purchased a Goldendoodle named Cooper from a Pennsylvania breeder. But the designer dog — which can fetch as much as $3,000 from a breeder — was dealt a similar fate.
Three days after his adoption, Cooper bled to death from internal injuries, which were the result of being pummeled by Knoller, according to prosecutors. He suffered cardiac and respiratory arrest from the disturbing abuse.
On Feb. 20, Knoller allegedly brought the puppy into Garden City Veterinary Care in cardiac and respiratory arrest.
By the time a veterinarian examined Cooper he had already died.
Knoller then returned to the same breeder days after Cooper’s death and complained he was sold a sick animal. He was given another Goldendoodle named Bella from the same litter.
The couple’s lone surviving dog was then allegedly choked, beaten and suffered several broken bones. The shaggy pooch was left with injuries that total more than $18,000 in medical bills — including broken ribs, a forearm fractured in two places and a pulmonary contusion, according to the Nassau County SPCA.
“I’ve never ever seen a case of serial animal abuse like this. Basically serial murder of an animal,” said Gary Rogers, the SPCA’s president, outside the court. “It’s just wrong.”
Both newlyweds were charged Wednesday with over-driving, torturing and injuring animals. Knoller also faces a felony charge of aggravated cruelty to animals.
Knoller and Kuncman face a max of two years and one year, respectively, if convicted on the top count.
“I don’t know why this happened and unfortunately the dogs can’t tell us,” Singas said. “Maybe there are anger issues. Maybe it’s some kind of sick sport.”
Judge Meryl Berkowitz ordered the couple Wednesday not to have any pets during the trial.
“The defendants are not allowed to have any kind of animals — not a dog, not a cat, not a bird, not a goldfish,” Berkowitz said.
The pair were released without bail but had their passports taken away. They drove off in a Range Rover without commenting.

PETITION TARGET: Warren County DA Jason Carusone
In the early hours of the morning of May 10, a man shot and killed a two-year-old Dalmatian named Sir Edwin in the dog’s own home.
The suspect, Joshua Marcantonio, reportedly visited the residence in Glens Falls, New York, to catch up with friends. Jacqueline Gilligan, one of Sir Edwin’s guardians, told WNYT that Marcantonio had punched her father in his sleep before leaving the house, only to return with a shotgun.
He then fired the gun through the closed front door, narrowly missing a man on the other side but killing Sir Edwin almost instantly. Gilligan says she heard the blast of the gun followed by the yelp of her precious dog who died shortly after, terrified and confused.
Glens Falls Police arrested Marcantonio, who is now in the Warren County Jail. Police charged him with criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and misdemeanor criminal mischief.
Glens Falls Police Detective Lt. Peter Casertino said the department would also file animal cruelty charges, according to The Post-Star.
Sign this petition urging Warren County DA Jason Carusone to treat this case with the severity it deserves, and prosecute Marcantonio to the fullest extent of the law — ensuring he can’t hurt another animal or endanger human life again.

Petition Target: Oregon Governor Kate Brown
This case is horrifying. An Oregon man brutally raped his fiancée’s dog in a drunken rage after she wouldn’t respond to his text messages. The dog’s internal injuries were so severe the vet had to euthanize the small Lhasa Apso, named Estrella.
Estrella lost her life — but her attacker only served 60 days in jail, because that is the maximum allowed under current law for first-degree aggravated animal abuse and sexual assault of an animal.
“If it could have been more, I gladly would have given you more time,” the judge said, according to New York Daily News.
Oregon must stop letting animal torturers get away with their crimes.
When this case broke, over 32,000 people signed LFT’s petition calling for justice. But justice has not been served, and we must keep speaking out for Estrella.
Estrella’s attacker, Fidel Lopez, is already out of jail. He will be able to own a dog again in his lifetime. His meager sentence — which includes three years of probation, mental evaluation and counseling — sends a message that anyone can hurt or kill an innocent animal and get away almost scot-free. While counseling is indeed crucial, allowing this man to walk the streets puts both animal and human lives in danger.
“The torture and abuse that Estrella suffered is unimaginable,” Multnomah County Deputy District Attorney Nicole Jergovic said in a news release.
And what is to deter Estrella’s rapist from striking again?
Sign this petition urging Oregon Governor Kate Brown to make it a top priority to pass stronger animal protection laws, so judges can hand out appropriate sentences and animal torturers are held accountable for their crimes.
Kirby Silverberg started this petition to RCMP – Grande Prairie (Sexsmith – Alberta)
Over the weekend a video surfaced online of two boys beating a coyote to death. Laughing while they slam the still alive animal against their snowmobile. The videos is so disturbing to watch. The boys taunt the animal as they clearly take pleasure in ending its life. The RCMP is undecided as to whether or not charges will be laid. This shouldn’t be a question of if. This inhuman, sociopathic behaviour needs to be punished. Sign of you agree.
Charge the individuals responsible.
Something needs to be done. These acts of violence against a defenceless animal cannot be tolerated.

A man identified as commercial fisherman Billy Brislane has hooked himself a big problem. The Australian, who is a member of a Facebook group called Fried Fishing, earned the wrath of most decent minded people everywhere when he uploaded a disgusting video.
In the video, the cretin grabs a deceased baby shark with a pipe sticking out of its head and another pipe coming out of its back. In another hand, he’s got lighter. Then to the sound of the kids’ song “Baby Shark” playing in the background, he leans down towards the shark and lights one of the pipes. When he corrects himself a huge puff of smoke comes billowing out of his mouth.
You read right, Mr. Brislane had just desecrated the body of a dead shark by using it as a bong. All so he could get social media likes and laughs.
Social media, however, wasn’t having it. In quick order, he received several complaints and was even visited by the police. So furious was the response that he suggested that he might even take a break from social media. Hopefully, Billy has learned that using dead animals as toys is not OK.
However, Billy isn’t the only problem. The Fried Fishing Facebook group where he felt free enough to upload the horrible clip is a cesspool of disgusting images. The site seems to be a library of videos and pictures where “fishermen” use their catches in inhumane ways as long as it gets a laugh. In another video. Billy grabs a live fish he caught, brings it up to his bare chest and lets it take a bite at his nipple.
In another — now-deleted video — another person also films himself using a shark as a bong.
This group, whose motto is “Fried fishing, stupid s**t, banter about other fishermen,” isn’t a group for fishermen to share stories about the one that got away. It’s one where they can trade videos of themselves abusing animals. And that isn’t OK.

Last month, diners at the Pine Beach Hotel in Yeppoon, Australia witnessed something that made them lose their appetite. While enjoying their meal, a man drove by in a truck trailing a limp dog behind it. The dog had somehow fallen out of the man’s truck bed but the driver did not notice or care and kept moving along.
As the driver roared around the corner, the dog’s collar snapped, leaving it in a pool of blood in the middle of the street. After it gathered its strength, the poor dog even tried to chase after the truck and the man who had abandoned him.
Kind bystanders then jumped in to rescue the poor pooch, rushing him to the vet. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough and he died overnight.
Dog owners who allow their dogs to travel in truck beds are playing a risky game. According to the Humane Society of Utah, in the United States alone, over 100,000 dogs die every year by flying out after an accident, falling out accidentally or sliding out the back of an open tailgate.
And in most parts of Australia, it is illegal to allow your dog to travel in the back of an open vehicle with RSPCA Australia advising that people should ensure “their dog’s restraint is long enough to allow him to stand and lie down, but not so long that he could jump or fall over the edge of the moving vehicle.”
The cruel dog owner who dragged and then abandoned his dog clearly didn’t follow these recommendations.
Please sign the petition and tell the Yeppoon Police you support their search for this irresponsible pet owner. Tell them to find him and charge him with animal cruelty.Photo credit: Facebookmore
A man left his dog locked up in his vehicle for more than six hours in Viña del Mar, with the suffocating heat he made, and the dog ended up dying. I suppose that due to the heat stroke or the dehydration caused by the high temperatures and the can not breath.
An auto usher saw the situation and tried to help the animal locked in the back of the vehicle, breaking a glass to rescue it, but the dog was already dead.
We are signing this petition for two reasons, first, that the owner of the dog apply the Cholito Law to go to jail, and I learned that the car usher was stopped for breaking the glass to save the animal, so I believe that not only should he be liberated but also rewarded for his courage.
Not only those who kill street dogs are criminals, these people who care less about their animals are as murderous as any other, and that is why I ask that you be condemned for murdering your dog.

Cinder was a 30 lb young black bear in Washington state. In 2014, she miraculously survived severe wildfire burns and won the heart of us humans. Tragically, she was shot and killed almost immediately upon being released back into the wild.
Sign the petition to demand justice for Cinder!
It’s illegal to kill a black bear in Washington state unless you have a license and it’s open season. Whoever killed her probably did not have that because they just left her body there. If a bear gets hurt or killed in self defense, the killer is supposed to notify the authorities. But Cinder’s body was just left to rot instead.
Scientists had hoped her collar had just stopped working because she was hibernating for the winter. That’s why they were so dismayed when they found her skeleton and realized it was because she and her collar had been shot.
Cinder lived through a horrible tragedy and healed, just to be shot by a selfish hunter and left to rot.
It’s heartbreaking that Cinder survived and then died so quickly after being able to return to her home. Please help us honor sweet Cinder by demanding that authorities find Cinder’s killer and hold them accountable!

On July 17, 2018 Phillip Peng was arrested in Pahrump, Nevada possessing an endangered wild desert tortoise that he had mutilated and kept on a leash.
PENG used a power drill to make 2 holes through the shell of the tortoise where he attached a metal leash. The tortoise was also found in a deep container of water when PENG was arrested and the animal was fighting to avoid drowning. A tortoise does not swim. A herpatologists that examined the animal stated the drilling of holes into its shell would have caused extreme pain and suffering, hundreds of nerves connect to the shell. The shell had also been fractured. Further, part of the nails in its feet had been worn off from it trying to escape the cable tether. Peng stated he kept the tortoise in this condition for about four years.
Peng was also charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon after allegedly pointing a gun at someones head, False Imprisonment and Carrying a Concealed weapon without a valid permit. It is well documented that those committing animal cruelty often escalate to committing crimes against humans.
The Nye County , Nevada Sheriff arrested PENG on two counts of felony animal cruelty. Subsequently, the Nye County, Nevada District Attorney dropped the one charge and only filed one misdemeanor charge of animal cruelty when the Nevada Animal Cruelty law applicaple substantiates a felony charge. (Case 18CRO3572)
It is just and proper when applying the Nevada State law in this case, (N.R.S. 574.100 (1) (a) 6 (a) that the Nye County Nevada District Attorney, Angela Bello and Christi Kindel, (filing Deputy) reconsider the charges and that the crimes committed by PENG be elevated to felony animal cruelty because they are, in fact, felony animal cruelty.
The crimes committed and the allegations and admissions made by PENG are torturous and outrageous.
The Nevada Desert Tortoise is a federally protected and endangered animal. The only way to prevent and reduce animal cruelty is to hold people properly accountable that commit it.

Horrific details have emerged following the arrest of 3 men after an investigation of a suspected illegal slaughterhouse in Loxahatchee Groves, Florida.
Animal Recovery Mission investigators conducted the six-month undercover operation called Operation Groves.
According to ARM’s Facebook page, “The property was discovered while investigators were conducting an investigation in a nearby area and on February 8, 2018, ARM immediately launched an investigation. The undercover investigation revealed Operation Groves was running an illegal slaughterhouse where numerous animals were being tortured and slaughtered for human consumption violating the state animal cruelty and slaughter laws. The unsafe meat was also illegally distributed into Broward County, Miami Dade County, and Palm Beach County’s food chain.”
The video footage that was captured was enough to give you nightmares. The footage included goats being tortured by slashing their legs and throat while completely conscious and metal hooks being inserted into their bodies while hanging upside down. All this while the animals are attempting to breath.
The details continue with other animals including chickens and pigs that were also cut and tortured while suffering a slow and painful death in filthy butchering areas.
Thankfully, ARM was able to discover this horror of a slaughterhouse before anymore animals suffered under the hands of these heartless people.
Richard Couto, the leader of ARM, noted that the meat may have also been used for rituals like black magic; calling it “a very, extremely violent illegal slaughterhouse.”
After the raid, Palm Beach Animal Control came on site to remove all animals including cows, pigs, pigeons, chickens.
The three men that were arrested were Ricardo Cabrera, 57, Chico Allen Cabrera, 29, and Roberto Llorente, 65. Their charges include Felony Cruelty to Animals, Conspiracy to Commit Felony Cruelty to Animals, Kill Animals Inhumane Methods, Conspiracy to Commit Killing Animals Inhumane Methods and Cruelty to Animals.
According to Palm Beach Post, Palm Beach County Circuit Judge Ted S. Booras ordered Richardo Cabrera on Friday to be held in lieu of $139,000 bail on the 40 charges, six of them felonies, during a bond hearing. The other two men are also being held in lieu of bail.
The judge also made it clear that the defendants could not pay their bail with the money they received from their alleged crimes at the slaughterhouse. Prosecutors stated that the investigators seized $120,000.00 during their raid.
WAN applauds ARM and their team for uncovering this terrible place and we are thankful that the rest of the animals will no longer suffer.

We are asking the Merseyside Police for a full, thorough and detailed investigation into the brutal killing of Hindo, a family pet, thrown from her home balcony in Toxteth, Liverpool, by a mob and then brutally beaten to death with sticks.
Please sign the petition and speak up for Hindo and her family.
Hindo was a 7 year old American bulldog who had been with her family since she was 6 months old. She was soft and gentle and liked to cuddle a blanket when she went to sleep.
On the 21st April, a drunken crowd of around 40 people gathered in the road outside Hindo’s home shouting, drinking and throwing bottles at nearby cars. Hindo and her family watched from their balcony, frightened. Her owner Cristian phoned the police 3 times and reported the situation and was told each time a patrol car was on the way. His mother was brave enough to go down and ask the crowd to stop throwing bottles. The patrol car did not arrive and 10-15 members of this mob climbed fencing and reached the balcony with broken bottles where they slashed at Hindo’s owner and his mother and picked Hindo up by her legs and threw her over the balcony. Cristian fought his way through the mob to try and reach his dog, who was being savagely beaten with sticks on the road where she had fallen
Hindo died from her injuries whilst being taken to the vet. She was murdered outside her home in front of her family. This happened in England. In a country famed for loving animals.
Hindo’s family can’t bring her back, but they want to know the people responsible for this are punished to the full extent of the law. And so do we.
Neighbours saw what was happening. 10 video tapes of this horrific event have been handed to the police. 6 people have been arrested so far and released on bail pending enquiries. 2 of those have already attempted to leave the country and caught. We are asking the Merseyside Police to ensure that justice is pursued vigorously for Hindo and her family. Please join us. What kind of person would waterboard a dog?
That horrible question was answered last year when authorities raided the house of Frederick Frameli after numerous complaints of animal abuse had reached officials.
One complainant saw the dog owner grab “a pup by the scruff of the neck and slam it to the ground” and hold another dog’s head underwater in a small tub of water.
When authorities arrived, they found eleven female dogs, including three wolfdog hybrids, in horrible condition. The dogs were emaciated or underweight, several had skin problems, curling toenails, and dead fleas, urine or feces on their fur. Frameli’s own home also reeked of urine.
Luckily the dogs were taken to a rescue facility and Mr. Frameli was held accountable for his actions. Judge Curtis Thompson, found him guilty of 12 counts of animal cruelty and he was fined $1400 plus $500 for waterboarding one of his dogs.
Now, despite some of the abuse being caught on tape and used in evidence at his trial, Mr. Frameli is trying to get the charges dropped.
This is unacceptable. Frameli did the crime, now he must pay the fine. He should consider himself lucky that he isn’t doing any time.
Please sign the petition and ask Washington County District Judge Curtis Thompson not to dismiss Mr. Frameli’s charges and hold him accountable for the horrible acts of animal cruelty he committed.
Mar 26, 2018 — GUILTY on all 12 charges of animal cruelty!
Thank you for supporting this petition for the past 4 1/2 years. As you all know, the trial of the man accused of brutally torturing and starving “Puppy Doe” is underway in a Dedham, Massachusetts courtroom and just this very moment we have learned that a verdict was announced!
Radoslaw Czerkawski is GUILTY of ALL 12 charges of animal cruelty!
Through daily testimony, we’ve learned more horrific details and information about Puppy Doe’s injuries and how she found herself the victim of a Craigslist pet ad.
Czerkawski admitted to purchasing Puppy Doe from a Worcester Massachusetts couple after responding to their Craigslist ad selling a young small pit bull named Kiya. That couple, according to their testimony, previously purchased Kiya from her original owner also via a Craigslist pet ad.
Kiya changed hands TWICE via Craigslist. That would mean that Kiya was passed off twice through a classified ad website ultimately ending up in the hands of a monster. If either owner had worked with a state approved rescue, or had conducted a thorough background check on potential adopters, instead of posting her on Craigslist like a piece of furniture, she might be alive and well in a loving home today.
Since Kiya’s death in August 2013 Craigslist have made zero changes to their policies for posting a pet ad. Simple changes might have prevented similar incidents where pets have fallen into the hands of abusers. Just as in 2013, Craigslist’s current position is that they do not allow the sale of pets on their site. The terms of this policy are the following: “no animal sales or breeding – rehoming with small adoption fee is ok.” Those of us in the rescue field know that these policies are not being enforced. There are countless ads posted by “backyard breeders” and others hoping to profit on the sale or transfer of an innocent animal. Craigslist appears to do nothing to stop this.
FEND will continue its efforts to represent the signers of this petition until Craigslist makes concrete changes to their policies.
Thanks again to all of you who have supported this petition since 2013 and for embracing FEND (https://fend.ngo). In addition to our Craigslist campaign, another important goal for 2018 is to raise funds to cover the costs to become an approved rescue organization in Massachusetts. This will help us grow our foster network and continue to expand our efforts to rescue and rehome displaced pets, many of whom we find via Craigslist.
