Sign Petition: Children Are Being Forced to Trophy-Hunt Endangered Animals, and Then Show Off in Photos. Stop This

If you thought trophy hunting was bad, then you’re not going to like the most recent news.

We all know by now that various callous, money-hungry companies exist that cater to rich international tourists who want to feel powerful by murdering something innocent and wild. Charging tens of thousands of dollars, these groups arrange for guns, outings, and the cold-blooded deaths of specific desired animals.

But one company — Africa Hunt Lodge in South Africa — takes it a step further. They also arrange these trophy hunts for children.

They even brag about it on their website: “We can accommodate hunters of any age and experience level. We love to have 1st time hunters join us. We take great pride in helping to educate children and beginner hunters about the responsibilities of hunting.” Their website also features dozens of photos of murdered animals, while waxing eloquent about all the “beautiful animals you will be able to hunt!”

Some of the most popular “hunting packages” include tours designed to maim and kill baboons and vervet monkeys, as they are cheaper to slaughter than, say, a lion. Africa Hunt Lodge charges £81 ($101 USD) to help you violently assault a vervet monkey and take its lifeless body home as a trophy.

In fact, one recent trophy hunting tourist in South Africa brought along their young child, Nolan, on one such vervet monkey hunt. Their child successfully slaughtered the small animal, a relative of humans. Then, they snapped a disgusting photo: little Nolan, kneeling next to his “prize,” grinning and holding up his dead and bloodied monkey by its ears as though it were a toy.

This is a hideous message to be sending to any child — suggesting that murder and conquest are positive things to strive for.

In recent years, Old World primate populations have plummeted from being in the millions to now, just 250,000 individuals. But these types of hunts are still legal until international law.

These perverse trophy hunts designed for children must end now. Sign the petition!

Heartbreaking News! Beloved Bear Named Cinder Who Was Rescued & Rehabilitated From Wildfires Was Killed By A Hunter In Washington – World Animal News

By Lauren Lewis –
December 13, 2018

Photos from Idaho Black Bear Rehab (IBBR), Facebook
It is with heavy hearts that WAN shares the sad news that Cinder, the inspiring bear who was brought to recover in Idaho after her paws were tragically burned in a wildfire four years ago, was shot dead a little more than one year ago, by a heartless hunter.
According to Idaho Black Bear Rehab (IBBR), which cared for Cinder before her release into the wild, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) shared the devastating update with the nonprofit organization yesterday.
As noted in one of numerous posts on the IBBR’s Facebook page, WDFW explained that the department had recollared Cinder in her den two years after her initial release. When Cinder’s collar stopped transmitting in October 2017, the department believed she was still hibernating in her den.

Due to heavy snow in the spring, and the cougar creek fire in the summer, the department was not able to go back and retrieve their cameras until September 2018.
“Unfortunately, instead of finding a den,” noted the explanation on Facebook, “we found Cinder’s skeletal remains. It appears that she was killed by a hunter in October 2017.”

Sally Maugan of IBBR shared memories of Cinder, as well as insight into the countless animal rescuers who worked so hard to save her life.
“Not many of us can know the pain and suffering that accompanies burns of that magnitude, the pain of recovery, bandage changes, and all that goes along with it. Yet Cinder was a definite inspiration to humans who also knew that pain and suffering, and to the many supporters around the world who followed her story,” Maugan shared in an emotional post. “I think most of us felt if she could do it, if she could fight to recover, if she could regain her freedom, then we humans could also face our own traumas and survive to live again.”

“As wildlife rehabilitators, we all face the goal of recovery and release,” continued Maugan. “However, we also face the inevitable knowledge that once released, the animals are in charge of their own lives and there is little we can do to impact that.”

IBBR has helped save more that 200 bears over the past 29 years.
“I never met a bear who would consider living in captivity as really living,” said Maugan. “Our tribute to Cinder is to never forget her, to thank her for showing us how to heal in the worst of times, and for her courage and fight to survive to live free again.”
Maugan also made a point to appreciate the WDFW, Pilots N Paws, Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care, Inc., and everyone involved for all of their “care and kindness in giving Cinder a second chance.”

WAN echoes their appreciation! R.I.P. sweet angel Cinder!

Wisconsin’s War on Wildlife 008: “He’s Still Alive…I Know!”

Wolf Patrol

Today we are sharing the last of the videos from Nicholas Valenta’s Facebook page, which show him directing his hunting hounds to mercilessly tear into a wounded coyote as he and he friends stand by laughing, watching…and filming. Hunting coyotes with hounds with Valenta isn’t only dangerous for his prey, but anyone within range of his friends shotgun blasts. In this and other videos, hunters can be seen running through the snow with what’s presumed to be loaded weapons taking shots at coyotes as they run.

NV 2011 VID SCREENSHOT Nicholas Valenta’s Facebook post accompanying above video.

Wolf Patrol is presenting these videos to the public because we know this is only the tip of the iceberg as far as cruelty and animal abuse go with the “sport” of hunting coyotes with hounds, which is at its peak in winter and early Spring. In the past, Wolf Patrol has been accused of staging illegal bait…

Wolf Patrol Launches Video Campaign Exposing Wisconsin’s Wild Animal Abuse

Wolf Patrol

These are the videos Wisconsin’s politicians and trophy hunters are desperately trying to keep Wolf Patrol from sharing with the public. The videos presented here were not filmed by Wolf Patrol, but by the hound hunters themselves and shared on social media. Wolf Patrol will be releasing one such video every day, to illustrate the systematic abuse of wildlife disguised as hunting in Wisconsin.

This is what legalized hunting with dogs looks like in Wisconsin, and if you don’t like it, please share your displeasure by calling the Wisconsin elected officials listed below who are calling for an end to Wolf Patrol’s monitoring of controversial hunting practices in Wisconsin. Let them know you stand with public trust wildlife and disagree with their use of public office to push their pro-trophy hunting agenda.

Germany: Rabbit missed, Hunter hit. Rabbit Escaped And Is Fine.

Serbian Animals Voice (SAV)

SAV Comment – Glad to hear the rabbit is ok.

Hello friends, hallo Mark,
today I have good news!!

I read this report on a German web site for animal rights and translated it.

Rabbit missed, hunter hit.

ST.PETER AM HART, AUSTRIA: At around 11:05 am on Saturday, 21 October, at the end of a so-called ‘drive-hunting’, the participants of a hunt were in the Mooswiesen area.

An 80-year-old hunter from St. Peter am Hart and a 25-year-old from Altheim were on the same level in the last rifle line.

As a field rabbit ran between the two and fled towards St. Peter, the 25-year-old gave a shot but did not hit.

The 80-year-old, who was to the right of the 25-year-old, shot twice on the rabbit, but missed it as well, and shot by mistake at his colleague!!

The 25-year-old was hit by bullets in his head and legs.

Lady-Color Now Approved for Lady-Hunters, Thank God | Grist

One small step for big-game sport, one big step for feminism: Hunters can now wear pink!
New York has joined Wisconsin and Colorado in adding hot pink as a designated hunting gear color, alongside the standard “blaze orange,” to attract more women to the sport.

Assemblywoman Eileen Gunther noted to The New York Times that by making hunting gear the color that all women biologically — and that’s a fact — prefer, they will attract “the next generation into the great outdoors.”

Sure? Many hunters are outspoken conservationists, because you can’t skin a deer if the deer have succumbed to the death knell of warmer climes and deforestation. But of all the ways to get young women interested in the great outdoors, hunting is one of the more niche. After all, there are myriad woman-friendly nature appreciation activities that don’t require disemboweling a large mammal — like serenading bluebirds in a sunlit field, for example.

Why might women be — statistically speaking — less inclined toward hunting than men? Could it be because we are too gentle a sex to handle the death of an animal, or because of our innate hatred for sensible shoes? No — it is because things like this happen!

Another wolf killed in Utah

The Wolf Preservation Blog

SNARES HAVE TO GO!

Wednesday, December 02, 2015 2:27pm

“An 89-pound female gray wolf was killed in Utah last month in a strangulation snare intended for a coyote.

She was the second wolf killed in Utah in less than a year and the third in the southern Rockies.

The most recent killing occurred around Nov. 7 in northeastern Utah, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. The previous wolf killed in Utah was shot on Dec. 28, 2014 by a hunter who claimed he thought it was a coyote. That wolf, nicknamed Echo, had been the first wolf documented at the Grand Canyon since the 1940s.

The third wolf was killed in Colorado on April 29 by a hunter making the same claim. All three wolves had migrated south from the Northern Rockies wolf population found in Wyoming, Montana and Idaho.

An analysis conducted by the Center for Biological Diversity…

Once again, it is hunting season, time for the myths that abound regarding this blood sport.

Hunters claim that they kill the weak and starving animals, thus helping the population. In actuality, hunters want the biggest and the best, those with a huge rack for the mantle trophy. Diseased animals don’t provide much optimal meat and, of course, isn’t that what hunting is all about? Nature’s own system of balance allows the debilitated, old animals to die out in favor of “survival of the fittest.” But when hunters are killing the dominant, healthy animals, the best genes are removed from the herd’s gene pool – as are the most experienced individuals – which leaves the population weak. Here are four more hunting myths:

∎ Hunting prevents the overpopulation of animals.

Actually, hunting creates an overabundance of animals of a certain species. Nature…

We hunt predators but we can’t say why

The New West / By Todd Wilkinson | Posted: Wednesday, November 12, 2014 1:15 pm

Consider this loaded question: Should grizzly bears, wolves and cougars be hunted for sport? Worldwide, given their rarity and declining numbers, should lions, leopards, cheetahs, jaguars and tigers?

If so, why?

Across North America we find ourselves in another big game hunting season. For many the harvest is as much about putting meat in the freezer — a form of modern subsistence — as it is about the profoundly personal act of communing with nature.

From an early age, a lot of us were taught two guiding ethical principles: Don’t take the life of an animal unless you intend to eat it, and, if you do kill, there ought to be a good reason.

As states sanction hunts of iconic predators (grizzlies and black bears, wolves, mountain…

Hunters are Uncivilized

Moral Dilimia

Hunters are uncivilized. CAM00049

Very hard to understand why and how, there is a certain sect of society, that is comprised of and focused around a almost satanic dark world of blood and guts spilled of innocent creatures of no crimes. These dark seeded individuals, wallow in the pain and suffering that they inflict, they take photos, videos, trophies.  When Jeffery Dalmer’s story was told, it totally mirrored what I see in hunters, I don’t discriminate, the species of animal that is in the freezer, it is all flesh and blood of an animal that was murdered, a life taken unwillingly, unjustly is a life taken. Hunters are quick to cite the bible verses to interpret and fit their own egocentric blood lust desires. And to take these verses literal that possibly, some other sociopathic killer wrote eons ago, and really, who the hell was the writer? Do we really know?…
