This video is called Life of Giant Pandas – Full Documentary.

From Associated Press today:

China’s latest survey finds increase in wild giant pandas

BEIJING — Wild giant pandas in China are doing well.

The latest census by China’s State Forestry Administration shows the panda population has grown by 268 to a total of 1,864 since the last survey ending in 2003.

Nearly three quarters of the pandas live in the southwestern province of Sichuan. The remaining pandas have been found in the neighboring Shaanxi and Gansu provinces.

“The rise in the population of wild giant pandas is a victory for conservation and definitely one to celebrate,” said Ginette Hemley, senior vice president of wildlife conservation for World Wildlife Fund.

Hemley credited efforts by the Chinese government for the increase. The survey shows 1,246 wild giant pandas live within nature reserves. There are 67 panda reserves…

Lions, new film

Dear Kitty. Some blog

This video is called Lion Ark – Official Trailer.

From Wildlife Extra:

ADI’s award-winning film Lion Ark goes global

The award-winning documentary Lion Ark is to be distributed worldwide thanks to a deal the charity Animal Defenders International (ADI) brokered with ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE).

The deal was signed ahead of Lion Ark’s theatrical release in cinemas across the UK in November.

Lion Ark follows a team from ADI as they rescued 25 lions from circuses in Bolivia after the country’s government banned wild animal acts. The government’s decision was the direct result of ADI’s two-year undercover investigation into circuses across South America.

The film shows the team journeying across a vast, hostile terrain to track down the circuses defying the new law in order to save the animals from a lifetime of cruelty. It reaches a joyous finale as 25 lions are airlifted in ADI’s Operation…

Drone fitted with GoPro captures blistering footage of a volcano erupting

For more than a month, Iceland’s Bardarbunga volcano has been steadily spewing lava into the air, covering the region in a blanket of ash.

And while most people are being advised to stay away, a film director and photographer have not only travelled as close to the heart of the eruption as they could, they’ve managed to capture its volcanic activity in stunning high-definition.

Using a drone, fitted with a GoPro action camera, the pair were able to record footage in the centre of the area’s Holuhraun lava field, and provide an incredible view of its violent and blistering core.

  • The footage was shot using a DJI Phantom 2 quadcopter drone fitted with a GoPro Hero3 action camera
  • It was captured by Eric Cheng, director of aerial imaging for DJI, and photographer Ragnar Th. Sigurdsson
  • The eruption began in August and the footage was recorded in the Bardarbunga region…

Gorilla film wins award

Dear Kitty. Some blog

This video says about itself:

“Hope”, a film by Craghoppers featuring Sir David Attenborough

8 April 2014

Hope is a powerful film, which revisits the plight of the critically endangered mountain gorillas in Rwanda and the team of people who are responsible for their survival.

Produced by Craghoppers and voiced by Sir David Attenborough, Hope was filmed in the Volcanoes National Park 47 years after Dian Fossey began her life’s work in mountain gorilla conservation. Only ruins of Fossey’s original Karisoke Research Centre remain — but we meet the research team in their new home, where 120 people continue Dian’s work.

Never before seen footage goes behind the scenes of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International as they intensely monitor the gorillas, with the help of a dedicated team of trackers and anti poaching patrols — whose job it is to follow the great apes every day, 365 days per…
