How is Biden making Xi Jinping smile? Let’s count the ways

by WorldTribune Staff, July 11, 2022

Amid daily revelations about damning evidence on his son Hunter Biden’s laptop, two major warnings regarding China’s ongoing efforts to infiltrate American politics and steal U.S. technology were issued by U.S. intelligence officials last week.

FBI Director Christopher Wray and his British MI5 counterpart conducted a rare joint public appearance in London on Wednesday to sound the alarm over the growing “serious security and economic threat” posed by China, which aims to steal U.S. intellectual property and corrupt American politics.

“Americans should be concerned because the Chinese government’s attempts to steal our innovation, our intellectual property effects American jobs, we’re talking about American jobs, American consumers being directly affected,” said Wray. “There was a case not that long ago where an American company was essentially fleeced by a Chinese company, and that caused the company’s stock value to drop by something like 85% and hundreds and hundreds of jobs lost. And so that’s real impact, not just on Wall Street, but on Main Street.”

Also on Wednesday, U.S. counterintelligence officials issued a bulletin to state and local officials warning of a campaign by communist China to manipulate and influence politicians with the goal of pushing Washington toward more China-friendly policies.

China “understands that U.S. state and local leaders enjoy a degree of independence from Washington and may seek to use them as proxies to advocate for national U.S. policies Beijing desires,” the National Counterintelligence and Security Center said in a bulletin sent to state and local officials.

The Trump administration “pursued aggressive measures to rein in China’s growing assertiveness and espionage activities,” the New York Post’s Miranda Devine, who broke the Hunter Biden laptop story in October 2020, noted in a July 10 op-ed.

“Yet, Joe Biden has gone soft on China since becoming president,” Devine added, offering the following examples:

• He diverted at least a million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, according to Reuters, to Chinese state-owned gas giant Sinopec, which Hunter had invested in through his ten percent stake in Chinese private equity firm BHR.

• He disbanded the China Initiative, a national security program set up by the Trump administration to combat China’s economic espionage at universities and research institutions.

• He revoked Trump-era restrictions against TikTok, instead promising a “national security review” which has led to no action for over a year. The world’s fastest-growing social media platform, owned by Chinese company ByteDance, reportedly has repeatedly accessed US users’ private personal data.

• In another unwinding of hardline Trump policies, the Biden administration granted the Chinese tech giant’s Huawei a license to purchase chips used in automobile manufacturing, Reuters reported last year.

• He has not pressed China on the origins of COVID-19.

• He suspended tariffs on Chinese solar panels.

• He reportedly is contemplating lifting further Trump tariffs against Chinese imports, for no discernible benefit to America, with economists warning that any effect on soaring inflation would be minimal and short-lived.

Devine noted: “It is astonishing that such generous concessions are even being contemplated while China has become Vladimir Putin’s top financier in the war on Ukraine, by buying discounted Russian oil and thus allowing the Kremlin to withstand Western sanctions.

“This munificence to China adds to well-founded concerns that Joe Biden is compromised by the Chinese Communist Party, given all the evidence on Hunter’s laptop about millions of dollars that flowed from China to his son and brother, Jim Biden.

“Until he comes clean about his role in his family’s influence-peddling operation in China during his vice presidency there will always be suspicions about his motives and questions about the risk to national security.”

Biden Media ‘ruined’ careers of border agents falsely accused of whipping migrants

by WorldTribune Staff, July 11, 2022

A false narrative of border agents on horseback whipping migrants attempting to cross the U.S. southern border was spread like wildfire by legacy media in September of last year and amplified by Joe Biden, who claimed the migrants had been “strapped” by the agents and vowed “those people will pay.”

An internal review released on July 8 by Customs and Border Protection found “no evidence” that Border Patrol agents on horseback had “struck any person, intentionally or otherwise.” Federal prosecutors declined to charge any of the agents involved.Border Patrol agents on horseback / Video Image

Biden and his team have not apologized for falsely accusing the border agents.

Even though they have been cleared of wrongdoing, the border agents targeted by Team Biden and its allies in the media say their careers have been “ruined.”

Calling what his team believed happened “outrageous,” Biden said: “I promise you, those people will pay. They will be — an investigation is underway now, and there will be consequences. There will be consequences. It’s an embarrassment. But beyond an embarrassment, it’s dangerous; it’s wrong. It sends the wrong message around the world. It sends the wrong message at home. It’s simply not who we are.”

“Their careers were ruined by this president,” said Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council.

“The president accused them of a criminal act. He has not apologized for that,” Judd told The Epoch Times.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is demanding Team Biden apologize for falsely accusing four mounted Border Patrol agents of whipping Haitian migrants at the southern border with Mexico last year.

“There’s no doubt this was political,” Paxton told Fox News Friday. “And it’s really unfortunate that these border agents who’ve given their lives to securing our border and defending American are being punished; they should be rewarded.”

The four agents are still facing disciplinary charges, CBP Commissioner Chris Magnus told reporters during a briefing on July 8. The “disciplinary charges” reportedly will cover the agents’ alleged unprofessional behavior for shouting at migrants and using profanity.

The Border Patrol union is representing three of the agents; the fourth is a supervisor.

Judd said he fears investigators “had no choice but to find some sort of fault” given the quick condemnation from Biden, Kamala Harris, and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

“And the fault that they found is some of the flimsiest I’ve ever seen in my 25-year career. In seeing disciplinary proposals time and time again, I have never seen a more flimsy proposal,” Judd said.

He said the situation has been “absolutely demoralizing” to agents because the agents involved were performing a legitimate law enforcement operation.

A Border Patrol agent in the Del Rio Sector, speaking on condition of anonymity because of fear of repercussions, told The Epoch Times that agents on the ground were set up by leadership for failure in a “no-win situation,” because of a lack of manpower and capability to effectively handle the flood of illegal aliens who were entering the United States on the day in question.

“With regard to the horse patrol, we know what happened. Agents know what happened. Leadership knows what happened. And instead of backing their agents for doing the best they could with what little they had, our leaders ‘Monday morning quarterbacked’ from their comfy offices and went on a fishing expedition, looking for reasons to get agents in trouble to appease those in this administration,” the agent said. “Our leaders need to quit saying Honor First and start living Honor First.”

DHS anticipates an average of 441 unaccompanied children per day at border this year, a new record

Anders Hagstrom

An average of 441 unaccompanied children will cross the U.S.-Mexico border into border patrol custody every day this year, according to estimates from the Department of Homeland Security.

President Joe Biden’s administration is reportedly expecting between 148,000 and 161,000 unaccompanied minors to cross the border in the fiscal year 2022, according to documents obtained by the Washington Examiner.

The documents reportedly detail the response to the influx from the Department of Health and Human Services, which is responsible for placing unaccompanied minors into homes. U.S. law states that such minors cannot be sent back across the border unless their country of origin is either Canada or Mexico.

The estimates indicate a sharp increase over 2021, in which U.S. Customs and Border Protection encountered 112,433 unaccompanied minors.

Border crossings have continuously surged since Biden gained office in January 2021. The DHS was anticipating a rate of 18,000 border encounters per day as of late April.

The Biden administration has repeatedly attempted to dismiss border surges as a yearly pattern. While the southern border has seen a pattern of increases in migration each spring, the surges in both 2021 and 2022 have far outpaced previous years.

Border agents made it clear to DHS Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas in late January that many of them blame the Biden administration’s policies for the surge. Mayorkas visited border patrol agents in Laredo, Texas, on Jan. 29, and the meeting threatened to boil over as individual agents criticized his policies.

U.S. Border Patrol chief Raul Ortiz struggled to maintain control as agents accused Mayorkas of “releasing criminal aliens into the country.”

“That’s the problem, chief,” one agent interjected. “For evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. That’s exactly what’s happening here. Good men are doing nothing. You’re allowing illegal aliens to be dropped off in communities.”

Ortiz responded by highlighting the organization’s success in drug-busting efforts, particularly with fentanyl.

“And under this administration, in the last year, we’ve got the highest fentanyl deaths in the history of our country,” another agent countered.
