A TORTURED elephant used for begging and as a prop for wedding processions was “intentionally blinded” by its cruel owners.

The elderly animal named Nina, aged 60, was rescued by charity Wildlife SOS in Uttar Pradesh, India.

The elephant’s eyeballs have collapsed or sunken after years of abuse

Initially, the abused elephant showed signs of PTSD such as severe anxiety and bobbing her head continually when saved earlier this year.

When elephants are captured in the wild in India they are often subjected to a brutal process called “Phajaan” which literally means “breaking of the spirit.”

The animal is put in a confined space where they are starved and beaten until they become subservient to their captors.

Shockingly, depraved people intentionally destroy the eyes of the elephants – blinding them – to gain more sympathy while begging.

Nina was also used in wedding processions where she was painted, made to carry heavy ornaments and forced to walk on hot tarmac roads from one ceremony to another surrounded by loud music.

And when she was not being brutally abused, the poor Asian elephant was held in chains, unable to move around.

The horrific work conditions and lack of proper nutrition and care led to Nina developing various physical ailments such as arthritis and damaged limbs as well as numerous scars and wounds on her body.

Dr Ilayaraja, Deputy Director of Veterinary Services at Wildlife SOS, told The Sun Online: “Nina suffers from a degenerative joint condition that affects her hind limbs. Her forelimbs are affected due to compensatory weight-bearing.

“Both eyes are damaged completely, possibly due to external trauma and lack of medical attention. She has been placed under a carefully calibrated diet to regain strength.”

After consultations with eye specialists from India and UK, the Wildlife SOS team was saddened to learn that Nina’s loss of vision was almost certainly intentionally inflicted.

Her left eyeball has completely collapsed due to an untreated injury and her right eye had shrunken.

Nina was rescued and brought to the charity’s Elephant Hospital Campus in Mathura, India first-ever medical facility for elderly and injured elephants.

STARVED AND BEATEN

She will now spend her remaining years being cared for by the team at Wildlife SOS where she is housed in an enclosure which is never changed so she can use her sense of smell and touch to navigate her way around.

The 60-year-old elephant often ventures out into the open field at the Wildlife SOS centre and even enjoys a shower every day.

Nina showed signs of discomfort in the initial days following her rescue as she found herself in a new environment, the charity says.

Yet, in the short time that the elephant has been with Wildlife SOS, she has grown comfortable with her caregiver and is adjusting to her free range enclosure.

Ms Tamarisk Grummit, who represents Wildlife SOS in the UK says, “Nina has found a happy and loving home at Wildlife SOS. Watching her evolve into a gregarious elephant is proof that we must continue treading the path to help Elephants in distress across India.”

New Military Jet F-15EX Strike Eagle Test Flights Create Sonic Boom Over Southwest Missouri

Folks around Springfield, Missouri and Green County Missouri have confirmed the loud boom heard over Southwest Missouri late Monday morning, and it was no accident.

According to officials, Boeing was running a test loop starting in St. Louis and made its way to the Ozarks.

The military aircraft reached a certain speed to create the sound as well, known as a sonic boom.

On September 26, the Mountain Grove Fire Department also reported that another sonic boom was heard in that area.

“Sonic boom is an impulsive noise similar to thunder. It is caused by an object moving faster than sound — about 750 mph. An aircraft traveling through the atmosphere continuously produces air-pressure waves,” the post states.

According to the fire department, the U.S. military has acknowledged the testing of a new jet called the F-15EX Strike Eagle released in April of 2021.

(Washington, D.C., September 29, 2021) Eleven U.S. bird species are on their way to being declared extinct — and “eight of them are in Hawai’i,” noted Mike Parr, President of American Bird Conservancy (ABC), commenting on news announced today by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Many news stories about this announcement have focused on the demise of the Ivory-billed Woodpecker, an iconic bird of the southeastern U.S. “The loss of the Ivory-billed Woodpecker is tragic,” said Parr, “and could have been prevented if action to conserve its habitat was taken sooner. We at ABC are focused on the place where the next round of  imminent bird extinctions is likely to happen — Hawai’i — and taking action to prevent losing those birds.”

Hawai’i is the bird extinction capital of the world. It’s home to several bird species that are found nowhere else and are teetering on the edge of oblivion, including the Kiwikiu. 

“I still have hope that we can prevent the extinction of the Kiwikiu and other Hawaiian birds,” said Parr. “If we act now, and decisively, we can ensure a different outcome.”

“The number one-threat to Hawaiian birds is avian malaria, transmitted by non-native mosquitoes,” said Brad Keitt, ABC’s Oceans and Islands Director. “This threat is exacerbated by warming temperatures associated with climate change, which allow mosquitoes and the lethal diseases they carry to move into higher elevations — the last refuges of the remaining Hawaiian forest birds.”

ABC is helping to coordinate the design and implementation of a strategy that will disrupt the mosquitoes’ breeding cycle. Under the plan, a secure lab is rearing male mosquitoes containing a strain of naturally occurring Wolbachia bacteria that will make them unable to successfully reproduce with wild females in Hawai‘i.

“We’re working urgently with our partners in Hawai’i to deploy this solution and prevent the tragedy of future Hawaiian bird extinctions,” said Keitt.

The eight Hawaiian bird species presumed already extinct — including the Kauaʻi ʻōʻō and the Large Kauai thrush — are joined in today’s USFWS announcement by 15 other species, including fish and mussels. The total of 23 species listed in the announcement will be removed from the Endangered Species Act due to extinction.

“Sadly, the majority of these species were listed under the Endangered Species Act too late,” said Steve Holmer, Vice President of Policy for ABC. “The longer conservation efforts continue, the better the results. The Kirtland’s Warbler, delisted in 2019, is an excellent example of a species recovering, slowly but surely, over decades. It is essential that species be listed for protection under the ESA before they are in crisis — and that the ESA remain strong to guard against future extinctions.”

The infamous civil rights activist Reverend Al Sharpton said on Thursday during his visit to Del Rio, Texas, “That Black Americans are being stabbed in the back by President Joe Biden,” as reported by the Washington Post.

The Post reported that in a telephone interview with Sharpton he said, “Joe Biden said on election night that Black America had my back, and I’ll have yours.”  They also reported Sharpton said, “Well, we’re being stabbed in the back, Mr. President. We need you to stop the stabbing, from Haiti to Harlem. Biden is in a defining moment where he can either rise to the occasion or let down those that helped him get there.”

Sharpton called for an investigation into Border Patrol agents who allegedly abused Haitian migrants. “We want Border Patrol to be full investigated, we want those to be brought to justice and we want to see asylum given to those who deserve it,” Sharpton remarked.

Sharpton’s comments brought heckling remarks from several protesters, with one calling Sharpton a disgrace.

Sharpton was speaking out about the allegations that Border Patrol agents on horseback were whipping migrants, according to pictures that were circulating on media.  But, photographer Paul Ratje, who took the pictures of the agents defending the border, said in an interview with KTSM that he did not see any agents whipping any migrants and that his photos have been taken out of context.

Several Border Patrol agents have told both Fox News and Townhall that agents are not issued whips and the alleged whips are actually horse reins. One agent explained the reins are swung in the air to deter migrants from getting too close to the horses, which could trample and injure migrants. The agents explained this is a technique how they and the horses are trained, and is normal procedure aligned with their training.

Cheetah trafficking rates by sea from East Africa to Yemen reportedly increased by 58% between March 2020 and February 2021; once captured by poachers, these spotted cats are predominantly destined for the palaces of royalty and wealthy families in the Middle East and South-East Asia.

More than 4,000 wild cheetahs have been documented in the illegal wildlife trade (IWT) since 2010, putting their current wild population at less than 7,000 today – half of their 1975 population – according to a black market brief by the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime (GITOC).

With the cheetah’s wild population steadily decreasing, in large part due to the IWT preying on their cubs, the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List has classified the species’ status as ‘Vulnerable’.

Cheetahs are only found in the wild throughout East Africa and the Horn. Their limited natural habitat zones, combined with their poor breeding rates in captivity, makes the illegal capture of wild cheetah cubs a serious concern for their survivability as a species.

Approximately 300 cheetahs are illegally removed from their habitats each year, according to GITOC; this represents an annual loss of over 4% of their total population.

According to the so-called Washington Convention – a multilateral agreement between almost all UN member states on the protection of the species – the trade of cheetahs “must be subject to particularly strict regulation and authorized only in exceptional circumstances.”

This means that legally, they can only be internationally transported to zoos, breeders, educational or training facilities, or to habitats suitable for their re-introduction into the wild.

After being poached, some cheetahs are suspected of being transported through legal channels but with fraudulent microchips and documentation, according to GITOC.

South Africa is where 4,300 of the remaining 7,000 wild cheetahs on Earth reside, although most facilities reportedly cannot track their individual movements. This complicates conservation efforts and exposes them to poachers and smugglers.

East Africa, however, is reportedly the primary region where cheetahs are abducted; they are then illegally shipped to the Arabian Peninsula, where exotic animals are regarded as status symbols. Young cubs are naturally less aggressive, making them more preferable.

Approximately 767 abductions have been reported across Ethiopia, Somalia, and Somaliland, according to GITOC. Over 70% of which – roughly 532 live cheetahs – are said to have originated from Somaliland alone.

It is noted in the brief, however, that the significance of Somaliland’s trafficking routes have been more thoroughly researched than that of other countries. This indicates that the total abduction count could be underreported.

The region’s extended coastlines and proximity to Yemen are said to make ideal smuggling routes for captured animals destined for wealthy families in the Gulf states.

During transport, captured cheetahs face conditions such as incredibly small confinements and prolonged periods with no water. Recovered cubs as young as two weeks have revealed signs of mistreatment and malnutrition.

It is estimated by GITOC that over 60% of captured cheetah cubs perish before reaching their destination to be sold on the black market.

The absence of dead adult females at the abduction sites implies that the cubs are taken after the mother hides them before setting out on a hunt.

Market demand for live cheetahs as pets reportedly remains strong. This complicates efforts to ensure their security and promote repopulation efforts in the wild.

Saudi dealers are said to sell the animals once they arrive through e-commerce and social media platforms. Accounts linked to Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Kuwait have reportedly sold nearly 2,500 cheetahs in the past decade.

On the legal market, cheetahs are said to cost between $20,000 and $25,000. Though the king cheetah, having stripes on its back believed to result from a genetic mutation, can cost between $90,000 and $120,000.

These costs apply to breeding facilities, commercial zoos, and safari parks.

On the black market, however, the price is naturally far higher. In the UAE, a tame king cheetah can cost up to $1 million, according to the brief.

Considering the net decline of their population figures, and their sustained demand on the black market, there are concerns that the cheetah as a species is headed for extinction.

Petition-MSA Security: Please Return K9 Mattie to her Military Family

I have tried to sit down to write this message several times but have failed as my family and I have been overcome with tremendous sorrow. 

My husband, combat veteran SSG Séamus Fennessy was a K9 handler with MSA Security (Owned by Perella Weinberg Partners “PWP”) for five years. During this time Seamus and his K9 partner Mattie worked exclusively with each other – Mattie never had another handler nor had Seamus had another dog. At the end of 2018 my husband informed MSA that he was going to serve his country on active military duty but would be local and still able to keep up with Mattie’s training. Since MSA had previously allowed handlers to keep their dogs in similar circumstances we had no reason to believe this would be different. Except it was. At the 11th hour only 2 days before my husband went on orders we were abruptly informed that Mattie would need to be returned and someone “would pick her up in the morning”.  

Mattie was just shy of 7 years of age and nearing retirement when she was taken in January of 2019. As of her birthday, April 21st, 2021, she is 9 years old and still working, far away from home. The average lifespan of a Labrador Retriever is 12 years.

MSA & PWP have callously torn our family member, our beloved “Mattie Cakes,” from her family who loves and adores her. While our daughters and myself could hardly contain our tears, my husband remained strong despite a barrage of phone calls and texts from MSA which included threats of destroying his military career. 

My husband is a veteran and decorated war hero – and in the words of MSA themselves a “great employee”. Mattie is a goofy, lovable pooch who adores playing with the kids in our backyard and napping on the sofa. Neither deserve this treatment. 

MSA & PWP have taken Mattie from her loving home and ripped our family apart. This is devastating to everyone involved. Including our sweet Mattie, our lovable goofball who doesn’t understand any of this but is wondering what she did wrong to end up in a kennel torn from her family and everything she knows. It’s this image that haunts me. Mattie is innocent and in true MSA / PWP fashion they are using her as leverage as they routinely do with their dogs.

In this colorized image from 1938, a mother is walking her baby in a gas-resistant baby buggy (or pram). The pram was designed by FW Mills and was an alternative to the baby gas mask. The lid had a glass panel; there was a gas filter on the top. On the back of the pram, a bulb from a car horn sucked in fresh air and expelled the stale. Thus, the buggy was properly ventilated. The woman herself is also wearing a gas mask.

In World War I, chlorine and mustard gas were used as a form of chemical warfare, resulting in 88,000 dead and 1,200,000 injured. This was only 20 years before the start of World War II, and so it was part of the collective memory. This, coupled with the bombing of Guernica, helped to induce terror in Great Britain.

The Fear Was Real

On April 26, 1937, the Nazi German Luftwaffe’s Condor Legion and the Fascist Italian Aviazione Legionaria bombed Guernica in Spain, and although the number of people who died is disputed and the number of casualties were not high, it did create fear in Britain of what could happen if Nazi bombers got through. The widespread fear in Britain was that the Nazis would drop poison gas bombs and the government started to plan for tens of thousands of deaths in London. Liddell Hart, one of the government advisors, told them to plan for 250,000 deaths in the first week of the war. Thus, every British civilian was issued a gas mask, or “general civilian respirator.” In total, they issued more than 35 million of them.

The Big E, a 17-day event held in West Springfield, MA, is the largest fair in the northeast and the 6th largest fair in the nation.

It began as a simple agricultural fair back in 1917 and is now regarded by organizers as a “New England extravaganza”. Yet the current incarnation of the fair has exploded far beyond agriculture and New England heritage.   In fact, The Big E uses wild animals acts for entertainment and such exhibits are not just inhumane, but some are even dangerous to humans.

Elephants, camels, zebras, kangaroos, and lemurs are featured in the R.W. Commerford & Sons Petting Zoo. This constantly traveling zoo contains a wide diversity of wild animals in very unnatural, cramped, and often unhealthy, conditions. Elephants, under the threat of punishment and prodded with a sharp metal instrument called a bullhook, are forced to stand around for hours for photos with Big E visitors.

The Big E contracts R.W. Commerford & Sons despite the fact that Commerford has been involved in three dangerous incidents involving the elephant Minnie, who has attacked and critically injured her handlers, including while children were riding on her. This same company has been cited by the USDA more than 50 times for violations of the minimal animal care standards required by the Animal Welfare Act.

In addition to the petting zoo, The Big E will feature a bear trailer, which contains four full-grown bears shut in cages. In the wild, bears usually roam 20-50 miles each day, yet when confined at The Big E, these animals have but feet to roam back and forth. This is inhumane and far from educational. Camels will also be exploited in Camel Kingdom, which is run by the notorious ex-Ringling animal handler Ryan Henning. While Henning claims this is an “educational” exhibit, the camels are forced to perform and give rides under threat of a whip. There is nothing “normal” or “natural” about this experience.

Kale Recalled in 10 States Due to Potential Listeria Contamination

The kale was sold under the Baker Farms, Kroger, and SEG brand names.

In conjunction with the Food and Drug Administration, Baker Farms has issued a 10-state recall for kale because it may be contaminated with listeria.

Fresh kale sold under the Baker Farms, Kroger, and SEG Grocers brand names between Aug. 30 and Sept. 1 should not be consumed. You can return the potentially contaminated kale where you bought it for a full refund.

The kale in question was packaged in 1-pound plastic bags with a sell-by date of Sept. 18. It shows a production code of 107020-21832 and was sold in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, New York and Virginia. The Kroger family of markets includes Ralphs, Harris Teeter, QFC, Fred Meyer, Dillons and others. SEG, or Southeastern Grocers, includes chains like Winn-Dixie, Harvey and Fresco y Más. It’s unclear if the potentially listeria-ridden kale was also sold under subsidiary brand names or only under parent-company brand names.

Listeria is potentially fatal in children, the elderly, and people with existing health problems. It can cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women. Even healthy people who consume foodborne listeria monocytogenes may suffer high fevers, headaches, nausea, stiffness, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.

So far, there have been no reported cases of illness linked to the contaminated kale.

(CNN)More than 1,400 white-sided dolphins were killed Sunday night in the Faroe Islands, in what local authorities said was a traditional whaling hunt. The killing has been denounced by marine conservation group Sea Shepherd as a “brutal and badly mishandled” massacre, and the largest single hunt in the Danish territory’s history. The organization said a super-pod of 1,428 Atlantic white-sided dolphins was corralled by speed boats and jet skis onto Skálabotnur beach on the island of Eysturoy, where they were then killed.

More than 1,400 dolphins were killed in the hunt.The Faroe Islands are an autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark, lying about halfway between Scotland and Iceland in the Atlantic Ocean.

The annual whale hunt, or grindadráp in Faroese, has been a part of local culture for centuries — but it usually involves the hunting of pilot whales. Although it has long been criticized by animal rights groups, locals have defended the practice.

41-year-old Kristian Petersen, who is originally from the Faroese town of Fuglafjørður but now lives in Denmark, said he began participating in whaling at the age of seven — but in his village, dolphins were never targeted. “I have experienced that firsthand and also participated a bit,” Petersen told CNN. “As long as it has been for food only, I have supported it. But this recent catch that was this weekend, I’m against how it went on.

Petersen is one of several whaling supporters who have condemned Sunday’s killing, saying there were “so many errors,” including pursuing a large flock and prolonging the dolphins’ suffering by not having enough people on the beaches to kill them.

Sea Shepherd also claimed that several of those involved did not have the required licenses to participate.One foreman, Heri Petersen, has been quoted by local media outlet In.fo calling for accountability and confirming there were too few killers involved, meaning the dolphins struggled for breath on the beach until they were killed.The Faroese Executive Order on Hunting Pilot Whales and Other Small Whales, issued in January 2017, states either the district administrator or foreman must approve any hunts and gives them the responsibility to “ensure that enough people are available on shore to kill the whales.”Bjorg Jacobsen from the Faroe Islands Police told CNN the hunt had been legal, but he declined to comment further.

Iceland to let more than 2,000 whales be killed within the next five yearsIn a written statement, Faroese government spokesperson Páll Nolsøe told CNN the “notification about the sighting of the whales was given to the district administrator, and the district administrator, in consultation with the whaling foremen, designated the authorised whaling bay the whales should be driven into.” He said it “was organised and carried out in accordance with Faroese legislation” and “there were no breaches of law and regulations,” adding that this had been confirmed by the Faroese Ministry of Fisheries. Nolsøe added that everyone involved in killing must complete a pilot whaling course, and said hunting white-sided dolphins was a sustainable practice, with a yearly number of around 250, although it “fluctuates greatly” — making Sunday’s catch almost six times as large. “The meat from each whale drive provides a large amount of valuable food, which is distributed free in the local communities where the whale drives take place… the meat of the 1,400 dolphins caught on Sunday has likewise been distributed among the participants in the catch and the local community,” he added.However, Sea Shepherd alleged locals had said there was too much meat from Sunday’s hunt and there were fears it would have to be discarded, pointing to interviews published in Danish outlet Ekstra Bladet.

He said the meat from the dolphins would equal roughly 200 whales, and so was “not too much.””I think it’s very necessary to kill whales,” he said, arguing it was a sustainable practice favorable to the importing of beef. “And we do it in a very humane way, using veterinarian-certified tools … The problem in the Faroe Islands is that we have a public slaughterhouse. So everyone can see what is going on.”Although he said some locals were frustrated by the “not so well organized” hunt, and he was “surprised by the sheer number of the dolphins,” the killing itself was a “normal thing” and did not come as a shock, he said.Sea Shepherd further alleged that several dolphins had been run over by motor boats and “hacked by propellers,” resulting in reports to local police. The Faroe Islands Police did not respond to a CNN request for comment on the allegations.

“Considering the times we are in, with a global pandemic and the world coming to a halt, it’s absolutely appalling to see an attack on nature of this scale in the Faroe Islands,” Sea Shepherd Global’s CEO, Alex Cornelissen, said in a statement.The Faroe Islands Whales and Whaling body has continued to stand by the practice in recent years, stating on its website, “the average catch of around 800 whales a year is not considered to have a significant impact on the abundance of pilot whales, which are estimated at around 778,000.”

Are Deportations to Haiti Merely Flights of Fancy?

As President Joe Biden begins to deport Haitian migrants out of Texas, will he take the next logical step and defend a federal law that makes it a felony for removed aliens to return to the U.S.?

Before the mass incursion hit Del Rio, a federal district judge in Nevada struck down a section of the Immigration and Nationality Act, which makes re-entry to the U.S. after deportation a felony offense. According to Judge Miranda Du, a Barack Obama appointee, that section of law violates the Constitution’s Equal Protection Clause.

The decision was hailed by open-borders enthusiasts like Julian Castro. Obama’s former secretary of Housing and Urban Development asserted that the law “has an incredibly racist history,” and tweeted, “I doubt the Biden DOJ [Department of Justice] will want to defend it in the appellate court.”

But failing to challenge Judge Du’s ruling will only raise questions about the seriousness and efficacy of Biden’s airlifts out of Texas. If the White House were truly committed to removing illegal aliens, and keeping them out, wouldn’t it want the penalties for returning to remain in force?

The question is somewhat rhetorical, given Team Biden’s dismal enforcement record. Earlier this month, DOJ lawyers persuaded an appellate panel to uphold narrow and selective criteria that have curbed deportations. February-July removals fell 33 percent from the same period last year, while the Border Patrol let 50,000 illegal aliens into the country without even handing them notices to appear in immigration court. It all makes this summer’s handful of “fast-track” deportation flights to Central America pale into insignificance.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas sounded unequivocal this week when he declared: “If you come to the United States illegally, you will be returned.” But that was countered by other U.S. officials who reported that Haitians are being released on a “very, very large scale.” The figure is said to reach into the thousands.

This administration’s tough talk rings hollow because it has created any number of loopholes and exclusions to limit or altogether halt deportations. As Mark Krikorian at the Center for Immigration Studies noted, deportations are possible unless …

(Washington, D.C., September 21, 2021) – U.S. Senator and veteran Roger Marshall, M.D. led Senators Ted Cruz, James Lankford, and Tommy Tuberville in introducing the COVID-19 Vaccine Dishonorable Discharge Prevention Act to prohibit the Department of Defense (DOD) from giving servicemembers a dishonorable discharge for choosing not to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. The House Armed Services Committee recently passed similar language led by Rep. Mark Green (R-TN) in an amendment to the FY2022 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). This legislation comes on the heels of President Biden mandating millions of Americans – including service members – to get vaccinated and the DOD issuing guidance stating that soldiers who refuse the vaccine will face “administrative or non-judicial punishment [under UCMJ] – to include relief of duties or discharge.”

“As a physician and veteran who is confident that the vaccine has saved countless lives, I believe vaccinating our servicemembers against COVID-19 is an important effort; however, whether or not to receive the vaccine should be a personal choice between an individual and their doctor,” said Senator Marshall. “Servicemembers who refuse to get vaccinated, and are subsequently separated from the service, should not receive anything other than an honorable discharge. There is no question about it: American heroes should not be treated as felons because of their personal medical choices.”

“It’s an insult to our servicemen and women who have served with honor to dishonorably discharge them for refusing the COVID vaccine. It is the same way we dishonorably discharge those convicted of serious crimes such as treason, desertion, sexual assault, and murder. Forcing all service members, including pregnant women and those who have already had COVID-19, to receive the vaccine is just one more example of President Biden and his administration putting politics ahead of science. I am proud to join Sen. Marshall on this crucial bill to ensure the proper steps are taken by the military chain of command in response to those seeking exemptions from this vaccine,” said Senator Cruz.

After Altercation at Restaurant, Black Lives Matter Claims NYC Vaccine Mandate Is Being Weaponized

After a skirmish involving NYC’s vaccine mandate and African-American patrons erupted at Carmine’s restaurant in the Upper West Side last week, Black Lives Matter of Greater New York and related organizations converged in front of the establishment Monday to protest and hold a news conference.

The original police report detailed that three black women from Texas got into an altercation with a 24-year-old restaurant hostess on Thursday after she asked them to provide proof of vaccination to eat indoors. However, subsequent information from the attorneys for both Carmine’s and the women revealed that the trio did, in fact, present verification of vaccination to enter.

Shortly after the women’s group was seated, three men arrived to join the party inside, but two were denied entry because they failed to provide vaccination documentation, lawyers from both sides confirmed to the New York Times. 

A fight broke out outside when a hostess allegedly used a racial slur and made derogatory remarks directed at the female customers, accusing them of carrying fraudulent vaccination cards, the lawyer who represents one of the women, Kaeita Nkeenge Rankin, who is a doctor, told the Times. Justin Moore, the lawyer, said the women claim the hostess “spewed out” the N-word. After the brawl, NYPD arrested the three black women for investigation of criminal mischief and assault.

Organized by Black Lives Matter Greater New York, demonstrators congregated Monday to clarify the story from their perspective. At the rally, the speakers railed against the racial obscenity that was allegedly uttered as well as the perceived discrimination against the black unvaccinated patrons. While protesters claimed the hostess was white, invoking “white supremacy” multiple times, Carmine’s owner Jeffrey Banks told the New York Post that the employees who he says were violently attacked were black, Latina, and Asian American.

BLM NYC co-founder and chairman Hank Newsome alleged that the restaurant staff treated the black women with hostility and accused Carmine’s of covering up “their employees’ actions by using the vaccination passport as an excuse.” He demanded that Carmine’s release its video footage of the incident, which he believes will settle that the hostess was the antagonizer and that the three women were wrongfully charged.

Succumbing to public pressure, on Tuesday Carmine’s owner Jeffrey Bank released the surveillance tape, which depicts one of the Texas tourists, rather than the hostess, as the aggressor who incited the brawl by throwing the first blow.

“This attack was entirely unprovoked,” Banks told the Post. He also unequivocally denied that any one of his employees made a racial slur.

Chivona Newsome, the other co-founder of BLM NYC, targeted Mayor Bill de Blasio’s vaccine mandate more specifically in her remarks. She implied that the edict has resulted in repeats of historical episodes when blacks were disenfranchised from society.

“Being a doctor does not protect you from anti-blackness. Having a vaccination card does not protect you from discrimination. The 1964 Civil Rights Act prohibits the actions of Carmine’s. It says it is illegal to discriminate against you on the basis of race,” she said.

“Seventy-two percent of black people in this city from ages 18 to 44 are unvaccinated. So what is going to stop the Gestapo, I mean the NYPD, from rounding up black people, from snatching them off the train, off the bus?” she added.

Chivona Newsome suggested that if these incidents continue, Black Lives Matter could revolt to exact justice like it did after George Floyd’s death.

“We’re putting this city on notice, that your mandate will not be another racist social-distance practice. Black people are not going to stand by, or you will see another uprising. And that is not a threat; that is a promise,” she said. “The vaccination passport is not a free passport to racism.”

Kimberly Bernard, the co-founder of the Black Women’s March, echoed the charge that COVID restrictions are being weaponized against minorities.

“We are serving notice on the mayor, on the governor, on the restaurant industry that we will not allow for you to use this pandemic, vaccination cards, and masks as another reason to be racist, to put us in prison. Because there’s enough of us in there,” she said.

A man from Rise and Resist, a direct-action group that formed in resistance to the 2016 election of former president Donald Trump, turned the conversation to the partisan blame game that’s exploded amid the pandemic.

“The Republican Party and elected officials and pundits on Fox News try to blame the entirety of the unvaccinated COVID crisis on black people, even though black people are twelve percent of the population,” he said.

But while the speaker said the political Right is guilty of pinning the pandemic on the unvaccinated, of whom many are blacks, a female African American in the crowd told National Review a different tale.

A college student with experience in the restaurant industry, Maya, who did not provide her last name, said her community is struggling to recognize that Democrats, not Republicans, are spearheading vaccine mandates and therefore resurrecting racial discrimination and conflict.

“Most black people aren’t going to acknowledge that the Democratic Party has disenfranchised us. Malcom X said it’s foxes and wolves. The fox pretends to be your friend to your face but passes laws behind your back to harm you. The wolf is not your friend, they don’t like you, and they treat you as such. But who do you respect more? Black people tend to fall for the fox,” Maya said.

She said her job is in jeopardy now because she’s refused the vaccine, another issue of economic equity that she says Democrats are not acknowledging.

“This vaccine mandate is disproportionately affecting people of color. People shouldn’t be forced to do it. It’s ‘for your health,’ but they’re willing to ruin people’s lives to protect against a virus with over a 99 percent survival rate. .  . This is going to be the new Jim Crow, and it’s going to affect mostly people of color,” she said.

Former U.S. Border Patrol Chief Rodney Scott sent a letter to Senate leadership warning that the agency is losing its ability to police the southern border amid an unprecedented surge in illegal immigration.

Scott, who served in Border Patrol for nearly 30 years before stepping down in June, also warned the situation is a national security threat, according to his Sept. 11 letter addressed to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., as well as Sens. Gary Peters, D-Mich., and Rob Portman, R-Ohio.

“As Chief, I was the most senior official responsible for border security between ports of entry,” Scott wrote in part. “I witnessed the [unprecedented] seismic shift in border security and immigration policy that was initiated on January 20, 2021.”

Scott went on to say he has been “sickened by the avoidable and rapid disintegration of what was arguably the most effective border security in our Nation’s history.” He blamed the deteriorating conditions on inexperienced political appointees in the Biden administration, who he claimed are ignoring the advice of seasoned professionals and giving false information to Congress and the public.

“In my professional assessment, the U.S. Border Control is rapidly losing the situational awareness required to know who or what is entering our Homeland,” Scott warned. “The ability of USBP to detect and interdict those that want to evade apprehension is being degraded daily.”

Warning that the porous border is unsustainable and that transnational criminal organizations are taking advantage of it, Scott urged congressional leadership to convene a hearing to assess the extent of the threat.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the agency which oversees U.S. Border Patrol, declined to comment.

Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wisc., whose office provided Fox News with a copy of the letter, said: “CBP Chief Scott is a career, non-partisan civil servant who worked tirelessly to secure our borders and keep America safe. That he felt compelled to write this letter, which warns of the significant national security risks this administration is creating, should concern every American. I hope the Biden administration and Congress will heed his fervent warning.”

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said Sunday that the administration was moving to address the most recent challenge, thousands of Haitian immigrants huddled in the outdoors after trekking across the border.

“We certainly are experiencing a challenging situation, but we are surging resources and we have a multipronged approach to this,” Mayorkas told CNN on Sunday. He said that so far the administration had added 600 agents as part of a surge in the region and was working with American Red Cross and World Central Kitchen to bring supplies and food to people.

BREAKING: Biden To Dramatically Increase Refugee Admissions Despite Historic Border Crisis

Democratic President Joe Biden is reportedly planning to double the number of refugees admitted into the United States despite the full-blown national security and humanitarian crisis that has erupted on the southern border under his administration.

The State Department said in a press release that the administration “recommends an increase in the refugee admissions target from 62,500 in Fiscal Year 2021 to 125,000 in Fiscal Year 2022 to address needs generated by humanitarian crises around the globe.”

“A robust refugee admissions program is critical to U.S. foreign policy interests and national security objectives, and is a reflection of core American values,” the administration claimed. “The United States has long been a global leader in refugee resettlement. The U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) reflects our tradition as a nation that has long welcomed immigrants and refugees.  It is an important, enduring, and ongoing expression of our commitment to international humanitarian principles and reflects the best of America’s values and compassion.”

This is the same administration that told Cubans who were hoping to make a sea voyage to the U.S. in an attempt to flee the oppressive communist regime, “if you take to the Sea, you will not come to the United States.”

The announcement from the administration comes as they have faced a historic crisis on the U.S. southern border with hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens pouring into border states every month.

The administration faced an additional crisis on the border as thousands of Haitians illegally entered the U.S. in the small Texas border town of Del Rio in a matter of several days. The situation in Del Rio is so dire that Rep. Tony Gonzalez (R-TX) said that there have been footage shortages at local grocery stores.

The new crisis in Del Rio comes amid back-to-back months of Border Patrol recording well over 200,000 apprehensions of illegal aliens on the U.S. southern border. CNN reported earlier this year that the U.S. was on track to make contact with a record 2 million illegal aliens on the southern border, a number greater than the populations of Alaska, Wyoming, and Vermont — combined.

“Speaking to Border Patrol agents, the worst is yet to come; they’re worried about what is behind here; they’re worried about coordination with Mexico,” Rep. August Pfluger (R-TX) told Fox News on Saturday. “It’s worse than you could imagine.”

Pfluger also expressed concern about the security situation on the border, telling the network that a majority of the roughly 15,000 illegal aliens were military age males.

“If they decided to riot or if unrest happened, it would be a terrible situation,” he said. “It is ripe. It is 100 degrees outside right now and you literally have 14,878 people here — this is how serious the situation is.”
