Florida manatee deaths rose significantly in 2018. Here’s Looking at You Kid – Meet a Florida Manatee by the U.S. Geological Survey. Public Domain.

Here’s a heart-breaking story by John R. Platt and Dipika Kadaba of The Revelator. It turns out that 824 Florida manatees died last year, almost 50% more than in 2017.

Those 824 mortalities (deaths) represent 13% of the Florida manatee population, and many of them were caused by people – either directly or indirectly.

The Revelator released a video that goes into more detail about why so many manatees died last year. Click below to watch it, and be sure to visit this link for the original story.

  1. And the crime continues! The human beings do not interrupt his nefarious activities, and the animals continue to die either by human’s own hand or by causes linked to human pressure. I am very sad. Even if this serves no purpose: we cannot change the situation by means of our loving thought towards those that we, the humans, continue to call “animals”.
A radical change is necessary … but unfortunately, every minute a species is extinguished.

    • As the old man walk the beach at dawn, he noticed a young girl ahead of him picking up starfish and flinging them back into the sea. Finally catching up with the youth, he asked her why she was doing this. The answer was that the stranded starfish would die if left in the hot morning sun. “But the beach goes on for miles and there are millions of starfish,” countered the old man. “How can your effort make any difference?” The young girl looked at the starfish in her hand and then threw it to the safety of the waves. “It makes a difference to that one,” she said.

Know that you’re not alone Claudine, we’re all over the world, throwing starfish back into the sea.
Blessings my dear friend take care💙
