SIGN OUR PETITION: Save the Bladensburg Peace Cross Veterans Memorial Honoring Our Brave Veterans!

traditionalvalues.us
Save the Cross

Does the radical Left have the right to destroy Veterans’ Memorials and Monuments?

Absolutely not!

That’s why Public Advocate is joining with 30 U.S. states to say
NO

and stop the Left’s plan to tear down the Bladensburg Peace Cross.

Our Amicus Brief (Friend of the Court) is being filed in defense of the Peace Cross and all memorials that use Christian symbols in their design.

But there’s no telling how the Court will rule, so we need to petition President Trump and Congress to take action as well.

They must act to Save the Baldensburg Peace Cross.

The Radical Left is desperately trying to destroy this Veterans’ Monument — all because it was designed in the shape of the Cross.

They can’t stand the fact that most of our veterans actually were Christian.

Or that the Bladensburg community was strongly Christian 100 years ago when they approved this marker to honor 49 men who died in World War I.

And if the Left is successful in destroying the Peace Cross, it won’t stop there.

Who knows how many veterans’ memorials around the country incorporated the Cross into their designs?

Every Monument will be a target if this happens.

Soon we’ll see crazed activists skipping through Arlington Cemetery looking for markers with the “offendive” symbol on them — so they can rip them out!

And you can kiss historic military awards like the Navy Cross goodbye.

The Left doesn’t care one bit about honoring the 49 veterans killed in World War I — all of whom are remembered on the Peace Cross.

Lower courts have already ruled against the Peace Cross — which is why Public Advocate and many others have appealed this case to the U.S. Supreme Court.

This is a nationwide fight of the most critical importance.

And it’s your chance to have your voice heard in Washington, D.C.
Sign our petition to President Trump and Congress right now

Let Washington know that you believe the Bladensburg Peace Cross should be DEFENDED under the First Amendment!

Sign now to defend the memory of our nation’s veterans.

For the Family,

HON. EUGENE DELGAUDIO
President, Public Advocate of the U.S.

Petition: chargers need to be laid!

change.org

Kirby Silverberg started this petition to RCMP – Grande Prairie (Sexsmith – Alberta)
Problem
Over the weekend a video surfaced online of two boys beating a coyote to death. Laughing while they slam the still alive animal against their snowmobile. The videos is so disturbing to watch. The boys taunt the animal as they clearly take pleasure in ending its life. The RCMP is undecided as to whether or not charges will be laid. This shouldn’t be a question of if. This inhuman, sociopathic behaviour needs to be punished. Sign of you agree.

Solution
Charge the individuals responsible.

Personal story
Something needs to be done. These acts of violence against a defenceless animal cannot be tolerated.

Petition: Ban the Sale of Elephant Ivory in Canada #ivoryfreecanada

change.org
Will we be the generation that lets elephants become extinct?

A shocking 20,000 elephants are killed every year for their ivory. Scientists and conservationists agree that at this rate, both African and Asian elephants will be extinct in the wild within our lifetime.

Even so, at the last IUCN World Conservation Congress, Canada was 1 of only 4 countries to oppose the closure of domestic ivory markets across the globe.

Ivory is so valuable on the black market that organized terrorism syndicates such as the Lord’s Resistance Army are committing mass slaughter using helicopters and AK-47 rifles. In 1980 Africa had more than 1.3 million elephants – today it has approximately 415,000. In less than 40 years, 70% of our elephants have disappeared.

In 1989, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) made it illegal to sell elephant ivory internationally. But each country makes its own laws regarding the sale of ivory within their borders. When domestic trade is allowed it permits illegal ivory (poached after 1989) to be sold along with legal ivory because it’s difficult to differentiate between old and new ivory without extensive and costly testing. The only way to protect elephants from extinction is to ban ALL elephant ivory trade.

China is the largest consumer of ivory in the world. It shut down its domestic ivory trade at the end of 2017. If China can stop their domestic trade, why can’t Canada?

On March 1, 2018, the United States lifted the ban on the importation of elephant trophies. If the U.S. cannot protect elephants, there is even more onus on the rest of the world to do all we can to save this iconic species.

We feel new legislation can protect both elephants and the indigenous trade of narwhal and walrus. We ask the government of Canada to:

  1. ban all domestic trade of elephant ivory; and
  2. make the import, export and re-export of all elephant ivory illegal.

Let’s make Canada one of the many countries changing their laws to allow the survival of the world’s largest land mammal before it’s too late. Sign for an #ivoryfreecanada.

Sincerely,
Fran Duthie

Petition: United Nations BAN Trophy Hunting STOP Poachers END Imports

change.org
Ban International Travel for Hunting.

More than 7,666,830,009 (billion) humans on Earth.

Two-thirds of all animal species are being wiped out.
100,000 elephants killed in the last 3 years. Too many species with once robust populations now reduced to a few thousand, a few hundred or even less. Humans are rapidly destroying the natural world in a blood-soaked pursuit of greed, false-power, ego, ignorance and stupidity.

We are witnessing The Great Animal Extinction, this animal holocaust caused entirely by soulless humans. Tigers, elephants, bears, rhinoceros, wolves, leopards, jaguars, cheetahs, gorillas, orangutans, so many bird species, sea life, are on the brink of extinction, and in a few years will be gone. The list is frighteningly long. Wild animals we love are being massacred at a terrifyingly rapid rate of destruction. Extinction is forever.

EXTINCTION IS FOREVER!

Natural habitat destruction, climate-change and greed are BIG problems, but the worst and most grotesque offenders are vile poachers and mentally diseased trophy hunters. These killers are an appalling example of mental illness. Aided by companies that profit from killing these beautiful creatures. These businesses & clubs are guilty of lobbying governments to let them break the law by importing exotic animals and their body parts and promoting death.
They must be stopped right NOW! It’s nearly too late.

We must act right NOW or we will be living in a world devoid of nature. A dead planet.
There is no time left to save the Earth’s great land, air and sea animals. Actions taken by organizations and individuals have helped but are not enough to stop the massacre. You sir, and we, must all act today, we must tip the balance for the animals!
WE MUST BE THEIR PROTECTORS.

What will the world look like if you do nothing?
Please do something Mr. Secretary-General, we know you have the heart and courage to make changes happen in the world!

Please sign the petition and share it with everyone. It will be hand delivered to the United Nations. I thank you. The animals thank you. Mother Earth thanks you.

Sign Petition: This Proposed Bill Would Unfairly Single Out Pit Bulls

recipient: South Carolina state legislators

One of the reasons Bill 3709 was recently introduced to South Carolina legislators by Rep. Chip Huggins is to do something about the overcrowded animal shelters in the state. Something definitely needs to be done to resolve this issue, but this bill is not the answer.

Why not? Because it would require the owners of pit bulls (and dogs perceived to be pit bulls) that haven’t been spayed or neutered to pay $500 to register and microchip their dogs. Owners of fertile pit bulls that aren’t registered would be charged with a misdemeanor crime, punishable by a fine of up to $1,000 and up to one year in prison.

Spaying and neutering pets is definitely a good idea, but why single out pit bulls? This bill is an example of breed-specific legislation (BSL), unfair laws that punish responsible owners and their well-behaved dogs. BSL is strongly opposed by most major animal welfare organizations. The ASPCA says it “should truly be called breed-discriminatory law.”

The bill states that pit bulls are “the most desired breed for dog fighting, and dying at a higher rate in local animal shelters than any other breed in South Carolina.” It’s highly unlikely that criminals involved in illegal dog-fighting operations will bother to register their dogs. Instead, some responsible pit bull owners who can’t afford to spay or neuter their pets won’t be able to afford that $500 fee either, so even more dogs could end up in the state’s already overcrowded shelters.

Requiring registration to own a fertile pit bull “would provide a safety component for the public and the dog,” the bill states. However, there is no evidence that breed-specific legislation like this has actually increased public safety wherever it’s been enacted, according to the ASPCA.

Like most breed-specific legislation, Bill 3709 will be very expensive to enforce. Here’s a better idea: spend those funds instead on affordable spay and neuter programs for all breeds.

Please sign and share this petition telling South Carolina lawmakers not to pass Bill 3709.

Sign Petition: Sharks and Rays Are in Serious Danger Unless We Act Now

thepetitionsite.com

The global shark and ray population is in serious trouble, but, thankfully, legislators in Hawaii are currently considering doing more to protect these creatures in state waters. Currently there’s a bill that would make it a misdemeanor (with up to a $10,000 fine) for killing, capturing or abusing sharks and rays.

Sign the petition if you want this important conservation bill to become law!

Sharks and rays need full protection under the law, for their benefit and for the health of our oceans. Rep. Nicole Lowen, who chairs the House Environmental Protection and Energy Committee said, “As apex predators, sharks and rays help to keep the ocean ecosystem in balance, and protecting them from unnecessary harm is essential to the health of our coral reefs.”Beyond being good for the ocean’s ecosystem, there is also just no excuse for people killing these animals. We don’t need to do it and we shouldn’t put up with needless animal killing.

Similar legislation has cleared the state Senate before, but now it’s up to the state House to keep House Bill 808 alive. State Rep. Chris Lee, head of the House Judiciary Committee must give the legislation a hearing by the end of the week in order to keep the ocean ecosystem thriving. That’s why he and other Hawaiian legislators need to hear from us now!

Let Hawaii be an example of conservation stewardship for the world to emulate. Sign on if you want this bill to pass to protect sharks and rays fully!

Petition · Jacob Wohl: Remove Rep. Ilhan Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee · Change.org

Jacob Wohl started this petition to Jacob Wohl

Rep. Ilhan Omar was flagged during the campaign for having a proclivity towards making antisemitic remarks, while refusing to condemn terror groups like Hezbollah and Hamas.

Upon being elected to the House of Representatives, Speaker Nancy Pelosi placed Rep. Omar on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, which is critical in steering America’s foreign policy. Since taking office, Rep. Ilhan Omar’s antisemitism has continued, and even escalated.

She blamed Jewish Money for America’s pro-Israeli foreign policy and invoked “Benjamin’s Baby” as an antisemitic trope aimed at Jared Kushner.

Enough is enough! It’s time for Rep. Ilhan Omar to be removed from the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

Greenpeace Ships Set Sail to Tackle the Global Plastic Pollution Crisis

ecowatch.com

By Graham Forbes

Corporations have created a plastic monster. More than 90 percent of the plastics ever produced have not been recycled, yet corporations have plans to dramatically increase their production of plastic packaging. With plastic production set to quadruple by 2050, recycling can never be enough to solve this problem.

But the global movement to hold these corporations accountable is growing. More than 3 million of you have joined us in urging companies to stop polluting our planet with throwaway plastic. And together with over 1,400 allies in the global Break Free From Plastic movement, we conducted 239 cleanups in 42 countries to identify the biggest corporate polluters.

In October, Greenpeace International released the Crisis of Convenience report, based on a survey to 11 of the biggest fast-moving consumer goods companies globally. Despite some of these companies publicly signing a voluntary, non-binding commitment to tackle the crisis, the report revealed that none of the companies surveyed currently have comprehensive plans to move away from single-use packaging; on the contrary, most of them have plans to increase the overall amount of plastic packaging they produce.

So now we are deploying the Greenpeace ships; the Rainbow Warrior and the Beluga, to tell the global story of where plastic pollution really starts and ends. We are rallying supporters worldwide to help hold these companies accountable and to make sure they follow up on their words with bold action. Because we don’t need more talk—we need concrete, urgent action to stop plastic pollution at the source!

Greenpeace’s flagship, the Rainbow Warrior, has been surrounded by giant single-use plastic items in Mediterranean waters. The action seeks to make visible the invisible, and to denounce the problem of plastic pollution in the oceans, especially in the Mediterranean Sea.

It’s time for Nestlé, Unilever, Coca-Cola, PepsiCo., Colgate, Danone, Johnson & Johnson and Mars to be transparent about exactly how much plastic packaging they are producing, and make concrete plans to reduce. It’s time for these corporations to invest in alternative ways to deliver their products to us and phase out single-use plastic.

These companies have created a monster, and we are not willing to allow the plastic monster to grow anymore. We need concrete plans for reduction, and we need them now. We need corporations to slay the plastic monster.

Stay tuned for more details about Greenpeace’s ships’ whereabouts in the coming weeks and months and to see how you can get involved!

R.I.P Amity – A Sea World Icon

Black Cove

On Sunday February 10, the news was shared on a cetacean-interest Facebook page that Amity, Sea World Gold Coast’s oldest dolphin had died.  The comments that followed were mostly from people who had known and worked with Amity during their careers, and it was clear that there was a genuine fondness for this captive dolphin.

Amity received her name from the area where she was collected – Amity Banks in Moreton Bay, Queensland.  Estimated to be around 3 or 4 years of age, Amity was  captured sometime in the mid to late 60’s when wild dolphin capture was still legal in Australia.

It is likely that Amity belonged to the resident population in that area, and as a juvenile Australian Humpback dolphin (Sousa sahulensis), she would either have been taken from her mother or would have recently become independent, as calves of this species usually stay with Mums for around…

Take Action to Help Save the Sunflower Sea Star

takeaction.oceanconservancy.org

Take Action to Help Save the Sunflower Sea Star

A new study has documented that the sunflower star has been virtually eliminated along a 3,000 mile stretch of coast. A “zombie apocalypse” has been underway beneath the waves since 2013, with “sea star wasting disease” (SSWD) literally dissolving more than 20 species of sea stars into puddles of rotting flesh on the seafloor.

The publication documents how this most important of species, the sunflower star, has rapidly declined because of the combined effects of a devastating disease and climate-driven ocean heat waves. As we continue to burn fossil fuels, massive amounts of heat are being absorbed by the ocean, which is driving extreme temperature events that appear to increase the lethality of SSWD. This one-two punch is not only destroying the sunflower star—but also destroying the kelp forests that provide the foundational structure for an entire ecosystem of ocean species.

Saving what we love—including the sunflower star—will take all of us who do have a voice using it.

Congress must act on climate change. The science is clear, solutions are available here and now, and the ocean must be at the heart of climate action.

Congress must debate and move aggressive climate legislation that will ensure communities and ecosystems are spared the most devastating potential impacts from climate change, and are able to successfully adapt to those they can’t avoid.

That work must start now.

But in addition, Congress can and must take action immediately using the tools we already have. This spring Congress will take up appropriations legislation for the next fiscal year. Those bills must prioritize critical funding for the climate research, coastal resilience, and adaptation programs that are already working to tackle our climate challenges.

Take action today.

US Senator Sanders Investigates $375,000 Price On Old Drug Previously Available For Free

Mining Awareness +

The drug was invented in Scotland in the 1970s, and has been given away for free by Jacobus pharmaceuticals for 20 years. One need only look at this case to see why medical price caps are essential. Neither individuals nor insurance companies nor the US taxpayer can afford US medical charges. The Canadian system works only because of caps on charges, and not just drug charges. US doctors are gouging too.

The $375,000 would even take a big chunk out of the Catalyst CEO, Patrick J McEnany,’s $900.000 salary. US Senator Sanders explains: “Recently, Catalyst licensed the rights to the drug and received exclusive rights to market Firdapse for seven years under the FDA’s orphan drug designation. Sign Petition: Octopus Are Extremely Smart, But These Countries Want to Make Them Suffer

thepetitionsite.com
by: Care2 Team
recipient: China, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Mexico, and Chile

41,715 SUPPORTERS – 45,000 GOAL

In the Disney movie “Finding Dory,” audiences fell in love with the scene-stealing octopus named Hank who helped the main character escape from an aquarium. While octopus can’t talk or drive cars, they have been known to be incredible escape artists who often leave fisherman or aquarium workers scratching their heads, wondering where their catch has gone.

That’s because the cephalopod is extremely intelligent. They are capable of figuring out complex puzzles, planning attacks, memorizing landscapes and using tools to survive. This intelligence has convinced many who study the animal that it isn’t just smart, but possibly a conscious being.

This fact has brought many to the conclusion that octopus should no longer be eaten, since eating one would be similar to eating a dolphin, parrot or chimpanzees — all smart animals in their own right.

But others have not gotten the memo. In fact, at this moment scientists in several countries are looking for ways to make underwater octopus farming a reality. If successful, hundreds of thousands if not millions of octopus a year would likely be kept in featureless tanks, without stimuli only to be slaughtered for human consumption.

In order to make any sort of octopus farming profitable, farmers would either have to keep them in small individual tanks or in large enclosures which held multiple animals. But according to a new study that analyzes the costs of the proposed project: “Octopuses are solitary, carnivorous animals badly suited to captivity. Confined in tiny cages, they suffer and die; confined together, they kill each other.” Neither way would likely be up to the humane treatment standards most nations expect their food to be raised.

But it’s not just the idea of factory farming yet another animal — and a smart one at that — that is troubling. The side effects of factory farming octopuses could be our seas as a whole. Just as we exploit thousands of acres of land to produce feed for our cows, industrial farms would require tons of wild caught shellfish and other food for their animals. So quite opposite from relieving the stress on our oceans, it could actually increase it.

Right now, scientists are encouraging nations to stop this inhumane and ecological disaster before it starts by urging them to ban octopus farming now. Doing so would kill demand and stave off an industry that will likely have serious negative effects on our planet.

Please join them, sign the petition and tell the governments of China, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Mexico, and Chile to kill this industry before it starts. Ask them to ban octopus farming.

Sign Petition: Threatened Species, Pets and All Fur Bearing Animals Are Cruelly Trapped and Killed!

thepetitionsite.com

Over the past few decades, trapping in California has had a devastating impact on wildlife populations and continues to put furbearing animals, non-target animals, including threatened and endangered species, people and pets at risk.

Sadly, hundreds of furbearing animals continue to be trapped every year in the state for nothing more than their pelts, which are being sold in foreign markets. Not only is this harming individuals animals, and posing a risk to others, it’s also harming local ecosystems — especially when top predators are targeted.

Now, however, conservationists and animal advocates are hopeful that new legislation will end the practice in California for good.

The bill (AB 273), which was just introduced by Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez, would protect furbearing animals from this cruel and archaic practice by banning commercial trapping in the state.

Not only will it end the suffering of animals who are trapped for their fur, it will also save taxpayers who are currently subsidizing this practice because it’s bringing in far less than what’s being spent to oversee this program. Additionally, it will also help increase wildlife viewing opportunities, which generate far more revenue than trapping does.

While this bill is bound to face opposition, it’s being cosponsored by organizations including the Center for Biological Diversity and Social Compassion in Legislation, and will hopefully garner enough public support to pass.

You can help by signing and sharing this petition urging California lawmakers to protect wildlife by banning commercial trapping throughout the state.

recipient: Marineland

72,974 SUPPORTERS – 75,000 GOAL

Ontario’s Marineland is home to the Dragon Mountain roller coaster, the Sky Screamer triple tower, and the “Ocean Odyssey” rides. It is also home to more than 4,000 live land and sea animals and a whole lot of controversy.

Over the last few years, the “amusement” park has come under public scrutiny for the several high profile marine deaths stretching throughout their nearly 60-year history.

According to One Green Planet, over their six decades of operation, the park has seen the deaths of, at least, 17 orca whales, 25 beluga whales, and an estimated 22 dolphins. So bad is their care that at one point even SeaWorld — no hero in animal rights — sued Marineland to get on of their orcas back whose health they claim had deteriorated after loaning it to the Canadian park.

Now they can add another victim to their list of animals that died in their care: Zeus the walrus. Zeus was once a fine specimen of a young, vibrant male walrus. But his years in captivity at Marineland had taken a toll on him.

No one noticed until a video of one of his performances went viral. The 2016 video showed Zeus to be a mere shell of his former self; he was emaciated and nearly collapsed during one of his performances. But that didn’t stop Marineland from continuing to use him in their shows.

Life in captivity for Zeus was no walk in the amusement park. He suffered from chronic regurgitation which arose from stress from captivity. His disorder meant that he couldn’t properly digest food and it left him “so undernourished that his hip bones and spine stuck out.”

In a statement last week, Marineland said that the necropsy performed on Zeus revealed he died of natural causes. But one of Zeus’s former trainers, Phil Demers, isn’t buying it. He told the Dodo that Zeus “had been ill for as long as [he’d] known him” — around 15 years.

Whatever the reason, Zeus like Marineland’s other animals should never have been kept in captivity in the first place. These animals are literally dying to be free and we must help.

Ask Marineland how many of their animals must die before they realize that what they are doing is animal cruelty.

Sign the petition and tell Marineland to end their live animal shows and give their animals to a proper sanctuary.

Petition: Do not allow the sacrifice of 18 falsely accused dogs!

In Tecamac they want to kill 18 stray dogs that are accused of having murdered a woman who appeared nude in the street. Who will believe all this show mounted only for the useless authorities want to cover a femicide by blaming street dogs. It is outrageous that they want to blame these poor animals, so we should not allow them to sacrifice them!

The woman appeared naked, that is, after killing her the dogs undressed her and stole some belongings. Who can be able to believe something like that? Please, let us not blame the animals for the insecurity in which we live daily.

We demand that these dogs are not sacrificed, are sterilized and rehabilitated and then can be given for adoption to responsible family.

Stop blaming the animals and look for the real killers!

They rape, cut and burn dogs alive in Parana and Santa Fe, we want them to send investigators!

A few months ago we had the case of a dog that was found with its eyes ripped and raped with a hot iron, and because of that a march was made in the city of Paraná, now a dog appears brutally beaten on the head with a machete. There are no detainees, there are not even accused, nobody investigates because the government does not care what happens to the animals.

Now another dog appeared raped and beaten in Paraná, and more animals beaten, cut and mistreated in Santa Fe, and so continue these savages because they know that the Justice of this country is not interested in animals, they think they are unpunished, and unfortunately if this it does not change, it will be.

There are several cases of animal abuse that we have endured in Paraná and Santa Fe, that’s why we ask investigators to come because neither the Provincial Police nor the Justice investigate, they are not interested in animals.

It is important to find the culprits because it would be a sign from the Justice that they are going to persecute all those who mistreat animals.

Please, we need to end with such violence against these beings who have no voice.

Wisconsin Support Needed for Bill to End Coyote, Bobcat & Crow Killing Contests!!!

Wolf Patrol

02.09.19 TYLER BELOTT GUT SHOT Run down with dogs and shot in the stomach: Coyotes at May’s Bar outside Crandon, Wisconsin February 9, 2019.

On Friday, February 8, 2019, Wisconsin senator Fred Risser officially introduced his bill that would end the many coyote killing contests held each winter for cash and prizes across Wisconsin. Risser says he looked at Vermont, California and New Mexico where similar laws have been passed or proposed, for guidance when drafting the bill.

MAY's 2018 HUNT POSTER Contests like this event held annually would be banned by Risser’s bill.

He says promoting ethical hunting is at the core of the proposed bill, “What we do is try to outlaw the hunting where there’s sponsored competition with the objective of killing wild animals for entertainment and for the chances of winning prizes and then discarding the carcasses, this is not ethical hunting.”

Sign Petition: They Are About to Throw Hundreds of Chickens Off of a Roof

thepetitionsite.com
by: Care2 Petition

Recipient: Drunkin’ Monkey Bar & Hotel

24,849 SUPPORTERS – 25,000 GOAL

During the Pioneer Days festival held every February in the town of Ridgeland, Wisconsin, the entertainment includes a “Free Chicken Fly,” in which over 200 live chickens are tossed off a roof to the crowd below to keep as pets.

We cannot let this harmful animal abuse to go on this year!

The event will likely happen February 16th, but the town has kept the date under wraps because they know animal advocates like you and I will try to stop the abuse — and they are right, because we must stop this heinous celebration.

It’s unclear whether the pioneers of Ridgeland participated in this disturbing tradition, but there’s no reason for it to continue to be held in the 21st century, now that we’re much more enlightened about what entails animal abuse. The chickens are undoubtedly scared and because they don’t fly well, many get injured or even die in the process.

Years ago, the county district attorney investigated the chicken toss to see if it violated a Wisconsin animal cruelty statute. Based on a short video he watched, the D.A. decided the chickens weren’t being harmed and allowed the event to continue. What kind of person sees animals flying off the side of a building and decides that’s fine?!

It’s 2019, not the pioneer days, and it’s time for the chicken toss to end. Please sign and share this petition telling the Drunkin’ Monkey Bar & Hotel, which hosts Pioneer Days, to end this event.more

Sign Petition: This Guy Killed a Shark Just to Use it as a Bong — All For Likes on Social Media

thepetitionsite.com
by: Care2 Team
recipient: Facebook

32,750 SUPPORTERS – 35,000 GOAL

A man identified as commercial fisherman Billy Brislane has hooked himself a big problem. The Australian, who is a member of a Facebook group called Fried Fishing, earned the wrath of most decent minded people everywhere when he uploaded a disgusting video.

In the video, the cretin grabs a deceased baby shark with a pipe sticking out of its head and another pipe coming out of its back. In another hand, he’s got lighter. Then to the sound of the kids’ song “Baby Shark” playing in the background, he leans down towards the shark and lights one of the pipes. When he corrects himself a huge puff of smoke comes billowing out of his mouth.

You read right, Mr. Brislane had just desecrated the body of a dead shark by using it as a bong. All so he could get social media likes and laughs.

Social media, however, wasn’t having it. In quick order, he received several complaints and was even visited by the police. So furious was the response that he suggested that he might even take a break from social media. Hopefully, Billy has learned that using dead animals as toys is not OK.

However, Billy isn’t the only problem. The Fried Fishing Facebook group where he felt free enough to upload the horrible clip is a cesspool of disgusting images. The site seems to be a library of videos and pictures where “fishermen” use their catches in inhumane ways as long as it gets a laugh. In another video. Billy grabs a live fish he caught, brings it up to his bare chest and lets it take a bite at his nipple.

In another — now-deleted video — another person also films himself using a shark as a bong.

This group, whose motto is “Fried fishing, stupid s**t, banter about other fishermen,” isn’t a group for fishermen to share stories about the one that got away. It’s one where they can trade videos of themselves abusing animals. And that isn’t OK.

Sign Petition: Reject Trump’s Animal-Hating, Oil-Loving Nom for Interior Secretary

by: Kevin Mathews
recipient: Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats

10,334 SUPPORTERS – 11,000 GOAL

With the departure of Ryan Zinke, President Donald Trump has nominated David Bernhardt, the Interior Department’s deputy secretary, to take over the department entirely. As a career lobbyist for major corporations – the same businesses that often do business with and apply for permits from the Interior, Bernhardt is immediately inviting countless conflicts of interest.

In his time in the government, he’s gone the extra mile to help oil giants drill freely, even if it means giving away public lands or calling back furloughed workers during the shutdown to keep the permit process moving. Bernhardt has also been instrumental in chipping away at endangered species protections so that corporations don’t have to be mindful of vulnerable critters.

Bernhardt faced appropriate scrutiny in the confirmation process for deputy secretary, and he deserves an even more thorough examination before heading the whole department. We call on the Dems to do everything they can to block this confirmation and get a non-lobbyist in this role.

Sign Petition: The Tiger Must Be Saved From Extinction — Here’s One Way to Help

thepetitionsite.com

by: Care2 Team
recipient: U.S. Congress

14,713 SUPPORTERS – 15,000 GOAL

Of the great predators, one of the most endangered is the iconic tiger. With a total wild population of less than 4,000 spread throughout the entire Asian continent, these cats walk a thin tightrope of survival. Tigers aren’t disappearing into thin air, they are being pushed to the edge of extinction by organized crime syndicates, poachers and traffickers that profit off their corpses.

That’s why it is paramount that governments like the United States create strong legislation that works to battle these organizations and the destruction they cause. Enter the Wildlife Conservation and Anti-Trafficking Act of 2019 (H.R.864). The newly introduced legislation would bolster our current anti-trafficking regulations by giving more power to federal agencies to fight poaching and wildlife trafficking.

Additionally, the law — if it passes — would see U.S. Fish and Wildlife agents stationed abroad in high trafficking areas, direct monies to funds specifically mandated to great ape conservation and prosecute traffickers under federal racketeering and anti-organized crime statutes.

When China threatened to lift the ban against using rhino and tiger parts in traditional medicine, conservationists braced themselves for what could have only been a new open season on these incredible animals. Fortunately, China has backed away from their plan — for now. But there are no guarantees that the ban won’t eventually be lifted.

It is now more important than ever to strengthen our nation’s laws against trafficking and that’s why the Wildlife Conservation and Anti-Trafficking Act is so crucial.

Tell the U.S. Congress you support this important bill. Please sign the petition and tell Congress to pass H.R.864 today.more

Sign Petition: Instead of Relocating Them, These Cougar Kittens Are Now Dead

thepetitionsite.com
by: Care2 Team
recipient: Colorado Parks and Wildlife

18,848 SUPPORTERS – 19,000 GOAL

A mother and her three kittens. Those are just some of the casualties of urban sprawl in Colorado.

Since the beginning of the year, Glenwood Springs residents had noticed they weren’t alone in their neck of the woods. Over the past several weeks they had seen a family of mountain lions lurking about, and after one neighborhood dog was killed people began to worry.

That’s when they decided to call (CPW). Perhaps residents thought CPW officials would be able to scare the cougars back to the mountains or relocate them to a more remote area where they wouldn’t pose a threat. Unfortunately, officials had another solution in mind. They trapped the mother and her one-year-old kittens and killed them.

Parks and Wildlife defended their action by saying it was their “only option.” But that simply isn’t the case. Colorado is a vast, mountainous state with wide swaths of unpopulated lands where these mountain lions could have been released to live a long and wild life. Instead, officials decided to take the lives of five pumas — a mother, her three cubs, and another adult.

The land these animals were roaming is theirs not ours and they should not be punished simply for being the predators that nature intended them to be.

Obviously, we must take the safety of Glenwood Springs residents into account but euthanization should have never been an option when they could have easily been relocated. Especially since their location could have been monitored with collars.

It’s too late for the five mountain lions that were killed by CPW but hopefully, it won’t be for the next family of pumas that encroach into a Colorado town. Please sign the petition and demand that Colorado Parks and Wildlife stop using lethal methods to deal with animal nuisances and ask them to use relocation instead.

Sign Petition: These Popular Companies Support a Zoo That Abuses Animals

thepetitionsite.com

If you go to the webpage for the Austin Zoo, you’ll see pictures of bear cubs playing, a tiger playing with a ball in the water and an emu seemingly smiling into the camera. Anyone not in the know might think that the zoo — which has been “helping animals” since 1990 — is a great place for animals to call home. But a recent article about the facility has shone a new light on what goes on behind the bars and enclosures and the suffering their “beloved” animals endure when no one’s looking.

Tales of unethical treatment have long been whispered by zoo employees but it wasn’t until a few animal deaths that workers there finally said they had enough. In an article in the Austin American-Statesman, nearly 24 current and former staff members told reporters that the zoo had, on several occasions, opted to let sick and dying animals suffer.

In one such case, Babs — the zoo’s 33-year-old black bear suddenly fell so ill that she was unable to move. When vets were unable to assist her, zoo officials hid her inside a tarp-lined kennel. Employees tell of having to give her water with a hose and dangling hot dogs from a string to encourage her to eat — she wouldn’t.

Over a six-week period, Babs was allowed to lie in her own waste, often used as a feeding ground for rats that would crawl on her to fight for the scraps in her enclosure.

In another case, in 2010, when Annie, one of the zoo’s patas monkeys, went blind, they decided to separate her for her own good. Alone, she languished for nearly 10 years, suffering a rattlesnake bite and several strokes that progressively rendered her paralyzed. Zoo officials then let her wither away for a decade until she finally died in her caretaker’s arms.

This is not normal procedure and it shows why this zoo is not accredited and their mission of “helping animals” is suspect.

While keeping animals in captivity is already a form of suffering, allowing them to literally suffer goes beyond anything acceptable in animal care.

On its webpage, the Austin Zoo boasts that they have several high profile supporters including multibillion-dollar companies like Marriott, Lowe’s and Whole Foods. One can only imagine that these companies support the zoo because they take them at their word, that they are “helping animals.” But now that these allegations of serious animal abuse and neglect have come to light, Care2 is asking if they really want to continue to give their money to an organization that is not on the up and up.

That’s why we are asking for Marriott, Lowe’s and Whole Foods to cut ties immediately with the Austin Zoo to send a message that this type of treatment towards animals is not OK.

Sign Petition: This Man Dragged His Dog Behind a Truck and Left It for Dead

35,781 SUPPORTERS – 40,000 GOAL

Last month, diners at the Pine Beach Hotel in Yeppoon, Australia witnessed something that made them lose their appetite. While enjoying their meal, a man drove by in a truck trailing a limp dog behind it. The dog had somehow fallen out of the man’s truck bed but the driver did not notice or care and kept moving along.

As the driver roared around the corner, the dog’s collar snapped, leaving it in a pool of blood in the middle of the street. After it gathered its strength, the poor dog even tried to chase after the truck and the man who had abandoned him.

Kind bystanders then jumped in to rescue the poor pooch, rushing him to the vet. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough and he died overnight.

Dog owners who allow their dogs to travel in truck beds are playing a risky game. According to the Humane Society of Utah, in the United States alone, over 100,000 dogs die every year by flying out after an accident, falling out accidentally or sliding out the back of an open tailgate.

And in most parts of Australia, it is illegal to allow your dog to travel in the back of an open vehicle with RSPCA Australia advising that people should ensure “their dog’s restraint is long enough to allow him to stand and lie down, but not so long that he could jump or fall over the edge of the moving vehicle.”

The cruel dog owner who dragged and then abandoned his dog clearly didn’t follow these recommendations.

Please sign the petition and tell the Yeppoon Police you support their search for this irresponsible pet owner. Tell them to find him and charge him with animal cruelty.Photo credit: Facebookmore

Sign Petition: These Surprise Seal Pups Must Be Protected!

by: Kelsey B.
recipient: Point Reyes National Seashore rangers

70,527 SUPPORTERS – 75,000 GOAL

During the recent government shutdown, Drake’s Beach in Northern California remained closed to visitors. But what was bad news for beachgoers and nature lovers turned out to be great news for a group of elephant seals!

60 elephant seals decided to take advantage of the empty beach and make the spot their birthing place. During those 35 days of the shutdown, about 35 seal pups were born! The problem is that now that the shutdown is over, officials want to open that beach back up.

Sign the petition if you want the beach to stay closed for good so we can give the seals their natural habitat back!

The spate of births was really quick, magical and adorable, but also very fragile. Normally the seals would have given birth elsewhere but experts are speculating that recent storms have forced them to find new places to do it. It’s critical that we don’t scare, harm or overwhelm the animals. Most of the pups are still nursing with their moms so it’s really important they are given time and space to get their pups ready to venture back into the ocean.

And what better way to give them the space they need than to shut down the beach to humans permanently!

We had a good run, but these seals have reclaimed what is rightfully theirs. Please sign the petition to close the beach for good!

It’s A Con To Talk About The Border-Wall When Trump Admin Gives Out Over 3000 Permanent Resident Cards Per Day; Over 1 Million Per Year, And A Wall Can Be Tunneled Under Anyway

Mining Awareness +

Illegals can tunnel under a wall, but the approximately 1 million per year of legal permanent resident immigrants don’t have to bother to tunnel under. The Trump Admin gave out over 3,000 immigrant legal permanent resident “Green” cards PER DAY in 2017; Over 1.1 Million total in 2017.

To put this in context, Dallas, Texas is the 9th largest city in the United States and has a population of 1,341,075.

Greencards easily turn into citizenship and so the insane numbers of new US citizens per year will continue, or again worsen, if nothing is changed. Each new citizen dilutes democracy, too, because each vote is of less value.

Even if a wall were effective, it is futile with such huge numbers being let in legally. The USA is already filled up with Americans, many of whom have no right to return to their place of origin.
