Ask TUI UK to Stop Supporting Orca Abuse
2-3 minutes
TUI UK, formerly known as Thomson Holidays, continues to sell tickets to SeaWorld, despite being fully aware of the company’s cruel treatment of animals for profit.
The documentary Blackfish exposed SeaWorld’s abuse of animals to the public, its stock has tanked, and major US companies such as Southwest Airlines have severed ties with the park, as will the UK’s biggest travel provider, the Thomas Cook Group, following a dedicated PETA campaign. But TUI UK continues to offer its customers SeaWorld ticket deals.
At SeaWorld, orcas live in cramped, concrete tanks and are deprived of everything that is natural and important to them. With no physical, mental, or emotional stimulation, they spend their days swimming in endless circles.
At least 40 orcas and dozens of other dolphins have died at SeaWorld parks from causes including severe trauma, intestinal gangrene, and chronic cardiovascular failure.
What You Can Do
As SeaWorld faces a plunging stock price and a steady decline in visitor numbers, it’s time for TUI UK to follow in the footsteps of numerous other travel providers – including STA Travel and Thomas Cook – and sever ties with this marine abusement park.
When Thomas Cook pledged to stop SeaWorld ticket sales, its CEO, Peter Fankhauser, said, “[W]hen so many of our customers are so clear in their view, I could not allow our business to ignore them .” It’s never acceptable to rob others of their freedom for a quick buck.
Please let TUI UK know your views and urge the company to stop supporting orca abuse.
