  1. I accidentally posted that to the wrong blog. Guess I am in for it.

It’s frightening if they were really given no warning! I wonder if they were told to remove defamatory info first and refused. A reminder that we should all remember to back up everything. However, Fellowship of the Minds was probably taken down due to legal action about that defamatory post alleging bestiality. Or some similar case(s). However, only the defamatory post(s) should have been taken down and not the entire blog. There are limitations to free speech even in America and not all Word Press servers are in America – they are all over the place. Defamation isn’t acceptable unless it is proven true. While Word Press tries to protect people one blog was removed that I think asked legitimate questions about a mining company. An Irish judge was trying to unveil the blogger, as well, though Word Press tried to protect them. However, due to legal action the blog itself was removed. In that case the blog was one post. But it was a legitimate post asking legitimate questions. People do get by with defaming public officials in America which is illegal most places. Most Americans are hesitant to take action for defamation because we cherish free speech but sometimes it is necessary. In America there are more rights to criticize and mock public officials. Elsewhere it appears to be the opposite. Having watched Zero Hedge through the years I do now believe it is a Kremlin disinfo front, though as far as I know RT news is still online. Even one article that they wrote which I thought was unique and useful I recently found was most likely defamatory bunk meant to confuse and cover for the real culprit. However, the real question is why no one else is following the case – a major court case about which I can find almost no info. Internet services around the world do take down internet sites all the time on security grounds, we just never worry about it because its usually Islamic extremists. Or people promoting pedophila or bestiality or about cooking and eating people, etc. For legal action some people forum shop and since Word Press servers are located all over the blog may have been removed under some other laws. Zero Hedge is in Bulgaria. Not sure what their free speech and rights look like. And, yes, it’s a problem of where do you draw the line. I tend to think the best cure is more free speech not less. I will have to see what Warner is up to. Thanks for your vigilance. The road to hell can be paved with good intentions, as well as bad ones.

  2. This worries me more and more. Unlike you, I didn’t like Fellowship of the Minds. But, if they weren’t given warning it’s frightening. They may have been given warning and be lying about it – we don’t know. However, it opens up another problem beyond free speech and that is private ownership of forums – internet and email. It may be protected speech but it doesn’t mean that a private service will allow it if they disagree with the content. All the services are private, I think. This problem came up in pre-internet days about free speech and protest in public vs private space. If the town square becomes the shopping mall, then the shopping mall could prohibit free speech (though I think there’s some ruling that they can’t totally in the US or it’s by state, I forget). While it’s scary that a decade’s worth of work can be erased overnight, it’s not the first time it happened or the only way it’s happened. There’s been a lot of character assassination lately and guilty until proven innocent and by then everyone’s forgotten or suspicions linger. People, including the elderly, who have been faithful public servants and may have done nothing wrong have been destroyed. Fellowship of the Minds involved themselves in that. However, they should have been given notice, if they weren’t. People act like some people shouldn’t even get their pensions, when it’s not even been proven they’ve done anything wrong! Even if they’ve done wrong they can’t be left to starve unless they are going to put them in jail. People have had their academic careers ruined too due to spiteful students. I think of one white jazz musician who worked with black musicians his entire life and then a student from India accused him of racism because he asked the student to comment on a book about India. He thought he was being inclusive and the student from India got him fired.

  3. Fellowship of the Minds had a group of writers, some wrote about religion, and I think two of them wrote about political and gun rights, and I know they did quite a few articles about Sandy Hook and they made fun of the celebrities and had caption contests which could be funny, and about animals, which I posted a lot of those post, now I’m going to have to go through and clean out, because they’re dead….except for the videos, I can post them as new on my blog. I guess it’s in their lawyers hands now, because I don’t believe they will take this and give up! Thanks for the information and links.
