WestJet Lives Under a Rock, Still Supports SeaWorld | Save Animals
WestJet—the second-largest airline in Canada—still sells SeaWorld tickets and tours.
We’d like to think that it somehow didn’t know SeaWorld confines intelligent animals to tiny concrete tanks, drugs them, and tears their families apart … but it does know, because PETA told it, and also … Blackfish came out four years ago.
OLD newsflash: Orcas at SeaWorld swim in endless circles and break their teeth gnawing on the enclosures in desperation. Dolphins are impregnated, sometimes forcibly after being drugged. Really not sure where the confusion about whether or not to support this abusive company is coming from.
Most Canadians don’t want to see marine mammals languishing in captivity. That’s why, after years of public protests, the Vancouver Aquarium agreed in early 2018 to stop imprisoning dolphins and whales.
SeaWorld still subjects 21 orcas, more than 100 other dolphins and whales, and many other animals to constant confinement and deprivation, and not one orca has come close to reaching the maximum life expectancy for an orca in the wild. Yet WestJet continues to profit from their suffering.
Sorry—we can’t allow it.
