  1. There were cruelty free cosmetics being sold by the 1980s and I suspect going back to the 60s or 70s. It is hard to understand why they continue to torture animals. Cosmetics aren’t even necessary and it wasn’t so long ago they were considered immoral by the majority. There is a long list of ingredients grandfathered in as safe anyway–I think it is called gras – generally recognized as safe.

    I was just thinking how I read a few years ago that John Wesley, the father of Methodism was advocating for farm animal rights-against cruelty in the 1700s.

    • Indeed.. all animal testing is cruel and unnecessary.. for beauty and cleaning products and definitely not for cigarettes… And I really don’t see the benefits of using animals in the medical profession, unfortunately they do use animal by-products in some medications like the flu shot, but they have a new synthetic one, which is good news for people allergic to eggs and for vegans.

      Many scholars were vegetarians and against animal cruelty.
