As expected following the news the last few days about the illegal killing of Cecil the Lion in Zimbabwe by an American dentist, the killing cartels and their apologists have taken to various media outlets to defend their “sport” and continue to foster the lie that it has something to do with real “conservation.”

One of the most absurd one that I read today came from a frequent apologist for wildlife killers, Rocky Barker of the Idaho Statesman. Barker talks about how the killing of Cecil was a “stupid act” but then goes on to espouse the “benefits” of trophy killing.

People who universally condemn hunters because of Palmer’s act don’t understand the critical role hunters play in conservation. The Safari Club, which promotes trophy hunting and conservation, suspended Palmer’s membership Wednesday, along with that…

Villafranca de los Caballeros, a small town an hour and a half’s drive from Madrid, has celebrated its annual summer festival with a traditional bullfightfor more than a decade. But this year the town plans to use its 18,000 euro (about $19,765) bullfighting budget to help families that can’t afford school supplies buybooks for their children, the Guardian reported.The majority socialist town council approved the proposal Thursday.

In the wake of the loss of Cecil the Lion, leading conservationists open up about big game hunting–and the bunk “population control” justifications for it.

Anyone who has not yet heard about the tragic killing of Cecil the lion–the subject of an Oxford University research study and beloved Hwange National Park resident–might as well be living under a rock. The outrage surrounding the incident has been relentless: on the last three days on Twitter alone, 1.5 million pronouncements have been made about the black-maned lion and Walter Palmer, the hunter/dentist who hunted him down earlier this month. And that’s saying nothing of the tens of thousands of petition-signers, Yelp activists, and news outlets chasing the story.

The Internet’s been in an uproar this week after news spread of the killing of Cecil the lion by an American dentist. Yelp reviewers called the man a murderer, locals set up a memorial outside his closed office in Bloomington, Minnesota, and officials in Zimbabwe, where the hunt took place, are calling for the man’sextradition.

Walter Palmer, who paid around $55,000 to kill Cecil, may face poaching charges for shooting the lion with a crossbow after it was lured out of a protected national park. Palmersaid in a statementto a local paper that he believed his hunt was legal.”I had no idea that the lion I took was a known, local favorite, was collared and part of a study until the end of the hunt,” he said.

Cecil the lion, whose death at the hands of hunters in Zimbabwe prompted worldwide outrage, may be commemorated by a bronze statue at the entrance to the park where he lived.

A conservation group has announced it wants to erect a life-sized statue of Cecil at Hwange National Park.

Cecil was shot in July by US dentist Walter Palmer. Zimbabwe is seeking his extradition.

The death made headlines around the world, and sent Mr Palmer into hiding.

Cecil was killed outside Hwange park using a bow and arrow. Mr Palmer says he thought the hunt was legal but two Zimbabwean men have been arrested over the killing.

Cheryl Rodrigues of the Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force said people had already offered donations for the sculpture – the cost of which has not yet been confirmed.

A toy company hopes the legacy of Cecil the lion will live on in a might way — through a plushy animal that’s raising donations.

Toy manufacturer Ty has created a Cecil the Lion Beanie Baby to honor the late lion and raise funds for wildlife conservation, with all profits from the toys? sales going to the organization WildCRU, according to a press release.

“Hopefully, this special Beanie Baby will raise awareness for animal conservation and give comfort to all saddened by the loss of Cecil,” said Ty Warner, the company?s founder and chairman.

The Cecil Beanie Baby will retail for $5.99, according to the Chicago Tribune, and 100 percent of sales will be donated to WildCRU– a wildlife conservation and research organization at the University of Oxford, in England.

Mia Farrow Faces Backlash For Tweeting Address Of Dentist Who Killed Cecil The Lion

NEW YORK (AP) ? Mia Farrow took some Twitter heat Wednesday for joining other angry social media posters and blasting out the business address of thedentist who killed the beloved lion Cecil in Zimbabwe.

Some apparently thought the actress had listed Walter Palmer’s home address in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, calling for her verified Twitter account to be suspended under the site’s terms of service.

A Twitter spokesman said the company does not comment on individual accounts for privacy and security reasons. He directed The Associated Press to official Twitter rules and policies that allow wiggle room on disciplinary action when information was previously posted or displayed elsewhere on the Internet prior to being put on Twitter.

The Farrow account deleted the original missive amid the outrage questioning whether the intent was to ensure Palmer is physically tracked down by haters. But the deletion did little to calm Twitter nerves.
