GUNNISON — Disagreement over the costs associated with a wild horse gentling program at the Gunnison prison has led to its suspension, and efforts are underway to find a place for 1,500 horses.

The program’s cessation means the Bureau of Land Management will move about 90 percent of the animals to out-of-state facilities, with a prison-imposed deadline to have that accomplished by Oct. 6.

“The BLM’s Utah State Office has valued our relationship with the Utah Department of Corrections and regret that it has decided to terminate the Wild Horse Inmate Program…

Straight from the Horse's Heart

“You know, if something works, why change it?”

ALBUQUERQUE — After first reporting yesterday that the Albuquerque BioPark will receive 38,000 pounds of horse meat to feed its animals, KOB looked into other zoos across the country to see what they were feeding their animals.

Only six of the eleven zoos KOB contacted across the country responded, and results were mixed.

The San Diego Zoo said they do use horse meet, but said they only recently started using a little bit last year. The zoo said some of their animals stopped responding to all-beef diets, which is why they switched to horse meat for some animals.

The Houston Zoo said they also used horse meet, and noted it was the “most nutritious” meat available to them.

The Denver Zoo said they used horse meat as well, along…

ISIS terrorism, Bush’s and Blair’s legacy

Dear Kitty. Some blog

This video from England says about itself:

16 June 2014

[Conservative] London mayor Boris Johnson tells Saint Tony Blair of New Labour to shut up about the current Iraq fighting mess, as it was his illegal war that started the problems.

From daily The Morning Star in Britain:

Iraq war led to Isis mess, [First Minister of Scotland] Salmond claims

Friday 5th September 2014

THE ongoing situation in Iraq is an “inescapable consequence” of US and British military intervention

Islamic State militants have killed two US journalists and are threatening the life of a British hostage.

Mr Salmond said he was not apportioning individual responsibility in terms of the hostage situation, but was commenting on the “generality of the consequences” of the 2003 war and occupation.

Speaking to ITV Border, Mr Salmond said: “On the more general point, I believe the tragedy we are seeing…

Cop Decapitates Boys Pet Chicken – MFA Blog

Life or Lunch?

ows_140971294815732-thumb-210x140News of a police chief callously killing a child’s pet chicken is circulating this week, following a complaint filed against the Minnesota police department by the boy’s mother.

According to an article published by The Huffington Post, the chicken had been a birthday gift for her son. His mother admits that she had received notice about violating a local ordinance but said “there was no reason to beat her son’s chicken to death with a shovel before decapitating it.”

“The chicken was like a puppy dog to my son,” Turnbull told the publication. “You wouldn’t do that to a puppy.”

The cop in question eventually made a public apology, claiming he had not realized this chicken was a companion to the boy.

Children are naturally empathetic to animal suffering, and tragic cases like this one remind us that the arbitrary distinctions made between animals we call pets, and others…

Polar Bears International responds to “The Politics of Polar Bears”

Well, sort of — what they did was provide a logical fallacy reply to an almost incoherent comment by a PBI Facebook supporter who had watched the documentary and complained of bias (such a predictable response).

See what you think, screen-cap below (taken September 3, 2014 at about 2PM Pacific Time.

I am told he [Taylor] is employed by the Environment of Canada“?

AndrewDerocher’s group“?

Yes dear, the environment of Canada has a huge payroll (doled out in buckets of berries and roots) and employs people who definitely should not belong to Andrew Derocher’s very own Polar Bear Specialist Group.

There are a few nonsensical follow-ups but this is about as much traction as the comment gets from these folks who “heart” polar bears. See for yourself here.

The entire documentary was about…

New Mexico BioPark to buy 35,000+ pounds of Horse Meat to Feed Animals

Straight from the Horse's Heart

By: Ryan Luby, KOB Eyewitness News 4

“Other zoos across the country have found that purchasing beef, bred for slaughter, is not only economical but much more healthy for the zoo animals versus imported horse meat which is riddled with drugs that can have a serious impact on animals that feed upon it…yet Albuquerque’s Bio Park continues to import tainted horse meat from Canada because, “We been doing it for 10 years.”  Well just because ya’all have been ignorant for 10 years doesn’t mean that you can’t learn a new trick or two…come on, people!!!” ~ R.T.

ALBUQUERQUE — Many New Mexicans fought hard to keep a horse slaughtering plant out of the state, but there is proof slaughtered horses are ending up in the state anyway.

KOB learned the Albuquerque BioPark would like to purchase 38,000 pounds of horse meat, but it’s something they’ve…

Missing Libyan Planes pose threat, Obama lifts ban on attending flight shools

a12iggymom's Blog

Try to connect these dots. The OMB now gives approval for Libyans who may now attend flight schools here in the U.S., reported on August 12. Please let me know what the Office of Management and Budget has to do with this? Now we learn the same month that about a dozen planes went missing when terrorists took over the airport in Tripoli. It is reported that they are now in the U.S. Meanwhile our Happy Face President tells us there is nothing to worry about and has no plans.

Islamist militias in Libya took control of nearly a dozen commercial jetliners last month, and western intelligence agencies recently issued a warning that the jets could be used in terrorist attacks across North Africa.

Intelligence reports of the stolen jetliners were distributed within the U.S. government over the past two weeks and included a warning that one or more of…
