Video of the Day: Phillip Wollen – Animals Should Be Off The Menu

The Paw Report

Dylan, rescued and happy at Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary. Photo by me. Dylan, rescued and happy at Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary. Photo by me.

Dylan, pictured to the left, was going to be veal. Can you imagine? Now he’s thriving, happy, and sociable at Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary. I met Dylan when I visited Woodstock a couple of years ago. I snapped this photo as he ran over to us, eager to get to know us and to receive pets and scratches.

Dylan is lucky because he was saved. But for billions of other animals, they are not so lucky. We force them into factory farms, we separate families, we kill them young, we cause them harm and suffering. And then we eat them. And then we repeat the process again, and again.

Phillip Wollen’s incredible speech calls for us to stop eating animals. After I saw many, many friends sharing and commenting on it, I finally got around to watching his…

Coalition to Ban Horse-Drawn Carriages.

Enough is Enough! He promised to ban horse-drawn carriages when he got into office. Many people voted for him because of this. We were delighted that we finally seemed to have a kindred spirit in our new mayor. But here it is 10 months since Mayor deBlasio was elected and he has not kept that promise.

The horse-drawn carriage trade continues with all of its inhumanity, its many accidents; lack of meaningful law enforcement, lack of safety – made stronger by the lies perpetrated by the NY Daily News, Teamsters and Working Families Party – lies that go unchallenged by the Mayor’s office. We have been very patient, waiting for some action. But nothing has happened and we have reached our breaking point. We say enough is enough.

Please stand up for these…

Chinchillas Are Waiting For New Homes

Alexandra´s Animal Awareness Blog

There are many chinchillas being kept as pets. Subjectively, I believe most of them are in homes unsuited for these rodents whose looks make them more “likable” than for example rats. Since chinchillas can live for up to twenty years chances are they will not be kept by the same people their whole lives. These little animals come from the Andes mountain range, do not like heat nor high humidity. But more often than not, they have to live in surroundings totally unsuitable for them. And then there is their beautiful fur. Some people would rather wear their chinchilla as coat than take care of the live animal.

“Valley View Chinchilla Ranch masqueraded as a breeder of “pets,” despite slaughtering, skinning, and selling the pelts of any chinchillas who supposedly did not “work out” as companions and even going so far as to hide its involvement in…

(Riverton, Wyo.) – Wild Horse advocates gathered outside of the student center building at Central Wyoming College to protest the Bureau of Land Management’s treatment of and plans for Wild Horses across the West. Simone Netherlands, representing Respect 4 Horses, said she attends every BLM Advisory Board meeting on Wild Horses held twice a year around the region.

“There is no overpopulation of wild horses, we’ve gone from over two million wild horses to just 30,000 in the wild,” she said. “but they complain that they’re overrun with wild horses.”

In prepared remarks delivered at noon, Netherlands said, “we now…

http://aldf.org/urgent-action-for-louisianas-animals/

These amendments will close a loophole that might otherwise enable unscrupulous exhibitors to obtain an exemption from the state’s restrictions on private possession of dangerous species. They also will allow for the Department to make key, unannounced inspections at facilities that house dangerous wild animals. While ALDF continues to seek justice and freedom for Tony the tiger, the welfare of other captive wild and exotic animals will remain at risk unless these important regulatory changes are made.

We need your help today to make sure that the Department does the right thing and adopts these critical changes!
