Called “swim with the whales” by some and a “whale immersion experience” by others, the move is cause for apprehension for the AWCS and other NGOs and researchers.

Our hapless Secretary of Defense, Chuck Hagel, actually seems to get at least something right. From The Guardian: 

When we look at what they did to Mr Foley, what they threaten to do to all Americans and Europeans, what they are doing now, I don’t know any other way to describe it other than barbaric,’ Hagel said. ‘They are an imminent threat to every interest we have, whether it’s in Iraq or anywhere else.’

Hagel said Isis, also kown as Isil, which began as al-Qaida’s Iraq affiliate before being disavowed last year over its brutality, was a calibre above previous terrorist organisations the US has faced.

Sam Simon Buys Fur Farm to Save Chinchillas | Ecorazzi

Sam-Simon1He may already have an excellent record when animal activism, but “The Simpsons” co-creator, Sam Simon, has done it again. With a little behind-the-scenes help from PETA, he recently purchased a working chinchilla farm in order to rescue its furry residents.

Simon — who has a long history of involvement with animal charities such as Sea Shepherd – is said to have paid $50,000 to buy the farm from its 90-year-old owner, Lurlie Adams, who has signed a contract to say that her land will never again be used to raise Chinchillas.

According to Reuters, Simon walked through the rows of cages, saying to the animals, “This is your last day of abuse. This is your first day of freedom.”

He also took to Twitter to talk about the experience, posting the following photo, along with the caption, “It was a hellhole.”
