Left Brain vs Right Brain

Impossible is nothing

“There is a foolish corner in the brain of the wisest man.”- Aristotle

What Is Left Brain – Right Brain Theory?

According to the theory of left-brain or right-brain dominance, each side of the brain controls different types of thinking. Additionally, people are said to prefer one type of thinking over the other. For example, a person who is “left-brained” is often said to be more logical, analytical, and objective, while a person who is “right-brained” is said to be more intuitive, thoughtful, and subjective. In psychology, the theory is based on what is known as the lateralization of brain function. So does one side of the brain really control specific functions? Are people either left-brained or right-brained? Like many popular psychology myths, this one grew out of observations about the human brain that were then dramatically distorted and exaggerated. The right brain-left brain theory originated in the work of…

reKindle.org wrote:

“This touching moment happened when we took to the streets of Chicago to deliver backpacks filled with sports drinks, socks, toiletries, and other supplies for homeless people.”

“We are a bunch of grown men, but that didn’t stop the tears from flowing when we met Albert. It happened to be his birthday, and we were there just in time to answer his prayers. This was a beautiful experience for all of us, and luckily, we caught it on video!”

The Value of Life

Life is life’s greatest gift.

Guard the life of another creature as you would your own because it is your own.

On life’s scale of values, the smallest is no less precious to the creature who owns it than the largest.

The Good That Men Do

Rantings From a Virtual Soapbox

Our task must be to free ourselves… by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty.
Albert Einstein

Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.
Anatole France

It can so often seem that the world is a very uncaring place and animal, and indeed human, abuse is rife, it is as though we are drowning in cruelty and suffering. Yet in the midst of all the awfulness, all the exploitation, all the greed and suffering brought about by humans there are people who care deeply about animals. This blog entry focuses on people and organisations who dedicate their time and their resources to care for some of the abused and abandoned animals that would otherwise be left to suffer the misery, pain and death often inflicted upon them by uncaring humans. In due course I…

Predator Derby

GR:  The BLM is proposing to issue a special 5-year, December 15 to January 15, recreation use permit for a predator derby to take place on public lands.  Up to 500 derby participants would have 3 days to kill gray wolves, coyotes, skunks, weasels, jackrabbits, raccoons, and starlings.  Killers would receive points for the animals they deliver to a judging station.  Please send comments to the BLM.

“The BLM has issued a “scoping letter” asking people to provide comments on the scope of what the BLM should consider in an Environmental Assessment they intend to conduct on the impacts of a proposed “predator derby” on the BLM lands surrounding the Salmon, Idaho area during the weekend of January 2-4, 2015.   The 15-day public comment period started on August 4th and will extend to August 18, 2014. The “predator derby” is being hosted by Idaho…

Team determines how estrogens persist in dairy wastewater

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Wastewater from large dairy farms contains significant concentrations of estrogenic hormones that can persist for months or even years, researchers report in a new study. In the absence of oxygen, the estrogens rapidly convert from one form to another; this stalls their biodegradation and complicates efforts to detect them, the researchers found.

The study, led by scientists at the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center, is the first to document the unusual behavior of estrogens in wastewater lagoons. The study appears in the journal Environmental Science & Technology.

Hundreds of thousands on US government’s ‘terrorist’ list

Dear Kitty. Some blog

This 2008 video from the USA is called US Has Nelson Mandela On Terrorist List.

By Tom Eley in the USA:

US terror list ensnares hundreds of thousands

6 August 2014

Over 40 percent of the 680,000 people on the US government’s Terrorist Screening Database (TSDB) have “no recognized terrorist affiliation,” according to leaked classified documents obtained by journalist Glenn Greenwald’s the Intercept.

The government adds names or new pieces of information to existing records at a clip of 900 items per day, according to the leaked document. It is unclear how individuals wind up on the terrorist list. Watch-listing standards published previously by the Intercept reveal that agents only need an undefined “reasonable suspicion” and not “concrete facts,” let alone “irrefutable evidence.”

Names on the TSDB are shared with police agencies across the US, private contractors, and foreign governments. The list is used to enforce no-fly…

Can cars run on hydrogen made from plant sugars?Researchers claim that using enzymes to convert biomass to hydrogen could yield significantly more energy than current biomass-to-ethanol efforts.

Replacing an energy-dense liquid like petroleum with alternative fuels is easier said than done. From the hidden carbon footprint of ethanol to some serious questions about the sustainability of hydrogen fuel cells, many replacement options come with their own significant environmental baggage.
Nevertheless, if we are going to reverse the worst impacts of climate change, we’re going to have to find our way to low-carbon fuels fast. One potential path forward lies in the conversion of the sugars found in plants into…

Nwo Report

From 'Am I pretty?' to 'Why won't he have sex with me?', it's Google we ask about all our darkest worries. So how did a search engine become our closest confidant?

Google, which has sometimes faced criticism for not doing enough to tackle paedophilia online, has been developing highly specialised software for a number of years.

Technology giant and control freaks Google has developed state of the art software which proactively scours hundreds of millions of email accounts for images of child abuse.

The breakthrough means paedophiles around the world will no longer be able to store and send vile images via email without the risk of their crimes becoming known to the authorities.

Details of the software emerged after a 41-year-old convicted sex offender was arrested in Texas for possession of child abuse images.

Police in the United States revealed that Google’s sophisticated search system had identified suspect material in an email sent by a man in Houston.

Child protection experts were automatically tipped off and were then able to alert the police, who swooped after requesting the user’s personal…

There are enormous numbers of Light bearers, workers, and way-showers on Earth at this time. 08/05/2014 by John Smallman

Forever Unlimited

“Your awakening is assured.  I am just reassuring you because so many of you have doubts, sometimes intense doubts, and those doubts need to be assuaged so that they do not drag you down into the gloom and uncertainty of the illusion.  You are all in the process of rising up out of it so that you can look on it and those engaged there, seemingly very firmly anchored in it, with loving compassion and without being drawn into the pain and suffering that so many are undergoing.

Your task is to spread Light, Love, and healing to all with whom you interact, and in order to do that you yourselves need to feel the Light and the Love within yourselves.  You can only share what…

Double-crested Cormorant with eggs

A Double-crested Cormorant protects its eggs on East Sand Island.

Tell the Army Corps of Engineers that you oppose the plan to kill 16,000 cormorants.

Take Action

Dear Jim,

The Army Corps of Engineers is planning to kill 16,000 Double-crested Cormorants—more than 25 percent of the entire western North American cormorant population—in a misdirected effort to reduce avian predation on endangered salmon. The cormorants live and nest on East Seal Island, a globally-significant Important Bird Area (IBA) in Oregon’s lower Columbia River estuary. While cormorants do prey on salmon, the fish are endangered because of dams, pollution, habitat loss, and an array of other factors—not because of the cormorants.

Write to the Army Corps of Engineers today to oppose their plan to kill 16,000 Double-crested Cormorants.

According to the Audubon Society of Portland, which is closely tracking this issue, “It is time for the US Army…
