In 1988, President George H.W. Bush signed into law the nation’s first cap and trade legislation to fight the growing threat of climate change. This was back when the GOP wasn’t run by lobbyists from the Big Oil and Big Agra industries, and actually believed in what science had to say. Things have changed a lot since then, with 81 percent of Republicans claiming it’s not a serious threat and 34 percent denying that it even exists. From that standpoint, many politicians have had to defend their line of thinking and come up with a variety of poor answers. Here are the seven dumbest claims:
