100-Year-Old Negatives Found in Antarctica: Photos

Frozen Block

Antarctic Heritage Trust conservators recently made a stunning discovery: a box of 22 exposed but unprocessed negatives, frozen in a block of ice for nearly one hundred years.

The negatives were recovered from a corner of a supply hut that British explorer Robert Falcon Scott established to support his doomed expedition to the South Pole from 1910-1913. Scott and his men reached the South Pole but died on the trip home.

The hut was next used by the Ross Sea Party of Sir Ernest Shackleton‘s 1914-1917 Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition after they were stranded on Ross Island when their ship, the Aurora, blew out to sea. This party is believed to have left behind the…

Illuminations Now!!

guardian-angel1At the Brink of this Old Year and the approaching New One I should like to announce herwith all my best wishes and added thereto the Balance of Karma when passing on ……

Prayer for Balance of Karma

“If there is anyone or anything that has hurt me in the past, knowingly or unknowingly, I forgive and release it. If I have hurt anyone or anything in the past, knowingly or unknowingly, I forgive and release it. If I have hurt myself knowingly or unknowingly, I forgive and release it. ~

(for the highest loving context for others and myself.)

NOTE: Optimal use is three times a day for at least 28 days. I have seen miracles happen with this prayer, both with myself and clients! This prayer was given to a man named Johnny in Mexico in the 1950’s from the Keepers who then gave it to Mary…

Mercy For Animals: Meet Abby; A Cow Abused From Birth To Slaughter

STOP ANIMAL ABUSE

“WTF…why are animals like Abbey treated with such abuse & disgust? They breath, they hurt, they bleed & they feel pain just like we do! These poor sentient beings suffer & die agonising deaths; to feed the human population! But just because they are brought up to be slaughtered does not mean they should not be respected in life & treated with compassion & dignity in death!!”

“It’s just so fxxxxxg wrong & I wish my parents had been vegetarian, perhaps then I wouldn’t feel so guilty having eaten meat as young child; before I realised the atrocities farm animals endure!! But everybody should know how farmed animals suffer a life of abuse & horrific death; just to be a burger on your plate!! If I were a farmed animal, I would probably welcome slaughter; for then I would be put out of my misery!!”

Former MSNBC Host Told Not to Warn Public About Fukushima

Nwo Report

“Because the official government position is that it’s safe”

Source: Paul Joseph Watson

Former MSNBC host Cenk Uygur was told not to warn the public about the danger posed by the meltdown at the Fukushima nuclear plant during his time as a host on the cable network.

2:45;

“I was on MSNBC at the time when this happened, I said, “Don’t trust what the Japanese government is saying, they’ll say trust what the electric power company is saying. Go, go, go, get outta there. Get as far away from that plant as you can. It’s literally a core meltdown.” And they always don’t want people to panic, so they were always like, “Oh it’s going to be okay.” […] I’m like, “You’re crazy man, don’t be anywhere near that reactor.” And I remember at the time, of course not at The Young Turks, but on cable news, people were like…

US Government Orders 14 Million Doses of Potassium Iodide

So much for good news, looks like 2014 heading towards the toilet‼

Nwo Report

Huge purchase linked to ongoing Fukushima crisis?

Source: Paul Joseph Watson

The Department of Health and Human Services has ordered 14 million doses of potassium iodide, the compound that protects the body from radioactive poisoning in the aftermath of severe nuclear accidents, to be delivered before the beginning of February.

According to a solicitation posted on the Federal Business Opportunities website, the DHHS asks contractors to supply, “potassium iodide tablet, 65mg, unit dose package of 20s; 700,000 packages (of 20s),” a total of 14 million tablets. The packages must be delivered on or before February 1, 2014.

Potassium iodide helps block radioactive iodine from being absorbed by the thyroid gland and is used by victims of severe nuclear accidents or emergencies. Under current regulations, states with populations living within 10 miles of a nuclear plant are encouraged, but not required, to maintain a supply of potassium iodide.

Giant yellow duck explodes in Taiwan

Dear Kitty. Some blog

British daily The Guardian says about this video today:

A giant yellow duck designed by Dutch artist Florentjin Hofman has exploded for the second time, eleven days after it went on display in a northern Taiwan port. The 18m-tall duck was supposed to be the star attraction for local New Year’s Eve celebrations but instead burst without explanation to the surprise of onlookers.

May 2014 also bring about the much-needed changes so many yearn for.

For the noble animals of the wild, new global (enforceable) laws which will put an end to cruelty in all its forms, and the repealing of misguided existing laws which permit ruthless, indiscriminate slaughter of the innocent.

An end to the merciless, murderous activities of poachers in Africa, and an end to the brutal and dispassionate slaying  of the majestic and blameless wolf in other countries.

An end to the shameless narcissism and one-upmanship aiding and abetting the prosperity and growth of the cold-blooded fur industry, and the expansion of savage, sadistic fur factory farms.

An end to the rampant corporate greed destroying the rainforests.

New laws protecting domestic and factory farm animals, some so heartlessly abused and in such dire need of our help.

An end to cruelty to our fellow human beings, abuse of civil liberties and

“Detoxify Your Body with Detoxifying Mint Tea”

' Ace Foodie News '

#AceFoodNews says need to detoxify after all that #ChristmasFayre then maybe this simple blending of “Herbal Tea” maybe just the ticket #chef-tips

Courtesy of: Heidi Swanson at: 101 Cookbooks

heidi101_101ymlplogo.jpg Blending your own herbal tea is a revelation. Once you start, it’s hard to go back to tea bags. This way, you’re able to shape your blends to be as simple or complex as you like. You control the flavour profile and ingredients entirely, it’s great. I liken it to making your own soup versus buying canned soup, and tend to bounce around from one blend to another. For a stretch it was this turmeric tea, lately it has been this detox-y ginger mint blend. The tea is green-tasting from mint and coriander, and fennel-sweet. The layered peppery-ness comes from black peppercorns and freshly muddled ginger, and with all sorts of beneficial goodness in it – lemon…

NH Boy a Vigilant Opponent of Horse Slaughter

Straight from the Horse's Heart

By DAN TUOHY as published in the New Hampshire Union Leader

Gregg has mustered support among New Hampshire’s congressional delegation…”

“Our own Declan Gregg in the news, again, fighting the good fight.” ~ R.T.

A horse slaughter plant in New Mexico plans to open soon, which is mobilizing animal welfare advocates to repeat calls for a federal ban on slaughterhouses and horse meat for human consumption. One of these opponents is an 11-year-old boy from Greenland, N.H.

Declan Gregg, who runs the blog Children 4 Horses, keeps tabs on the bills that are in committee on Capitol Hill. He has traveled to Washington three times to fight for the bills, and he and his mother, Stacie, plan to keep pressing the case in 2014.

“It’s not good for the horses, community or public safety,” Declan Gregg said in a phone interview Friday.

Gregg, who was the American Society…

Update: Man whose malamute was killed seeks legal fix

Exposing the Big Game

by Rob Chaney

Layne Spence still brings his two malamute dogs, Rex and Frank, to run along the Clark Fork River in Missoula, but he’s not ready to take them back into the woods.

“This is where I let them run around,” Spence said on a winter afternoon near the Higgins Avenue Bridge. “You can tell they need to run. But we were out on the Kim Williams Trail where they were doing some work, and when somebody used a nail gun, the dogs just freaked out.”

On Nov. 17, a hunter shot and killed Spence’s third malamute, Little Dave, on the road above Lee Creek Campground near Lolo Pass. Spence was cross-country skiing with Little Dave, Rex and Frank a few hundred yards from the road gate when he heard gunshots and saw the dog get hit. Spence said he screamed for the man to stop, but the…

2013: The Year of the Big Backslide?

Exposing the Big Game

The year of our lord, 2013, could be known as the year of the big backslide, at least in terms of attitudes toward animals and the environment, as well as the general acceptance of scientific fact.

For example, CBS News reports that the number of Republicans who believe in evolution today has plummeted compared to what it was in 2009, according to new analysis from the Pew Research Center. A poll out Monday shows that less than half – 43 percent – of those who identify with the Republican Party say they believe humans have evolved over time, plunging from 54 percent four years ago. Forty-eight percent say they believe “humans and other living things have existed in their present form since the beginning of time,” up from 39 percent in 2009.

I can’t help but think this is because many people still aren’t comfortable admitting they’re animals. And this…

Saved from Bosnia-Herzegovina in 2013!

IN MEMORY OF VUČKO

1476129_418418604926286_335373521_n

Amongst all the horror happening in Bosnia Herzegovina, we need to remember the good. This year our group, AWAB (Animal Welfare Advocates for Bosnia Herzegovina), with assistance from other animal welfare organisations and independent animal activists have helped nearly 30 dogs find forever homes outside of BiH. This is a post about some of their stories….

Loppy and Billy were homed early this year, two dogs living on the streets, and fallen in love with when their photographs were seen here on this blog and on Facebook. Now in their forever homes in the UK.
loppy3Loppy was a sad street dog, found by rescuer Ismir Musić. You can read some of his story here. He’s now a much loved member of the Prestwich family in Essex…
1078310_581605038549047_520490967_nBilly first appeared on this blog in November last year, here. He was one of many strays being fed by activists Jelena Paunovic…
